PostHeaderIcon October 5 is Now Known as Global James Bond Day!

Aston Martin has long been associated with James Bond. The relevance of cars in movies more or less started with the Aston Martin cars featuring in James Bond movies. To commemorate this iconic relationship, Aston Martin has teamed up with the producers of James Bond, EON Productions and Sky, to celebrate “Global James Bond Day” today, the October 5th.

Aston Martin DB10-auction

So as promised, Christie’s auctioned off one of the undamaged Aston Martin DB10 movie cars from the latest James Bond flick, SPECTRE. And, as expected, the car went for big bucks as the final gavel landed on an amazing bid of £2,434,500.

The auctioned Aston Martin DB10 was one of the eight cars produced for the movie and one of only two kept intact as show cars. So apart from the Bond connection, this thing is an utterly unique possession. Chances are Aston will never sell the other DB10, which makes this the only one in the world and its owner one happy dude.

The best part of last night’s Aston Martin DB10 auction was that all the proceeds from the sale of the car will go to Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors without Borders), a global humanitarian aid organisation that provides medical care and support to victims of armed conflict, epidemics and other disasters.

Although it’s a V12 Vantage underneath, the DB10 comes with a completely bespoke body and interior, garnished with lots of 007 logos and hints, as if the looks weren’t unique enough. Hard-core Bond fans might be disappointed that the DB10 does not feature any special trick like machine guns or ejector seat, but we think this is a lot cooler.

Aston Martin DB10-auction-0

The exquisite Aston Martin DB10, as you know, was built was one purpose only, and that was to be driven into a river by James Bond in SPECTRE. After that Aston sent the car on a tour of the world, and now they want to auction it off.

It is for a good cause though, as all the proceeds from the sale of the DB10 – and they expect them to be over £1 million – will be donated to Médecins Sans Frontières. To be auctioned by Christie’s on 18th February, the Aston Martin DB10 that goes under the hammer is one of the two “show” cars unmodified and used for display purposes, and it is signed by Daniel Craig.

Aston Martin DB10-auction-3

Not that anybody bidding for this DB10 cares, but underneath that glorious carbon fiber skin, the car is a Vantage powered by a 4.7-litre V8 petrol engine mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. The interior is bespoke to this model, and features fine luxury leathers, carbon fibre and aluminium, as well as various SPECTRE and James Bond plaques. But none of that matters. It could have a two-cylinder engine and people would still buy it, just because it’s a Bond car, and a bit because it has Craig’s signature on it.

Most of us ended 2015 scrambling for some last minute shopping, trying to enjoy a badly planned vacation, or just sitting at home with a bunch of junk food watching reruns of crappy old sitcoms. But for customers and friends of Dimmitt Automotive Group the end of the year highlight was a cool supercar show as they were invited to the firm’s December Cars & Coffee event.

And what way it was to wrap the year with, enjoying the company of cool people, while looking at a huge lineup of exotic cars and enjoying some excellent snacks. The highlights of the event, which you will find in the gallery below, included a Volcanic Orange McLaren 675LT with some extra MSO options, a Verde Mantis-wrapped Audi R8 Spyder apparently playing the role of Grinch, James Bond’s Aston Martin DB10, and of course, the usual host of day to day exotics, your Ferraris, Lamborghinis, and Porsches.

Aston Martin DB10 Virginia-0

When you think of James Bond and his bespoke Aston Martin DB10, you think of places like Monte Carlo, or Lake Como. What doesn’t spring to mind is the United States and southern state of Virginia. But since the car is on a tour of the world these days, that’s where it has ended up.

This Aston Martin DB10, one of the ten units produced for the latest Bond flick SPECTRE, went on display at the Exclusive Automotive Group in Vienna, Virginia. What’s particularly interesting about this car is that it has a few dents and chips on it – proof that it was indeed used in the film. That makes it rather special. We have a sneaking suspicion Aston is showing off this car around the world to create a lot of hype about it before they announce they want to auction if off.

Underneath that not very pretty but still handsome – kind of like Daniel Craig himself, actually – appearance, Aston Martin DB10 is a V12 Vantage with a 570 horsepower V12 engine which takes the car from 0 to 60 mph in 3.7 seconds, riding a wave of orgasmic, machine gun-like exhaust note. The top speed is 205 mph. So this is a real Bond car that you can actually use because it’s a real car under the skin. It’s not just some useless movie prop.

Jay Leno Aston Martin DB10

It is good of Jay Leno to still keep making videos for his YouTube channel, what with him having a successful, weekly TV show now. And it’s not like he’s saving the good stuff for the TV show and bring his rubbish to the internet. Oh no. The latest JLG episode takes us for a ride in the new Aston Martin DB10 from the new James Bond movie. You can’t say fairer than that.

Jay, of course, is a huge Aston Martin fan, which is why they sent a ranking official, Marek Reichman, to personally deliver the Aston Martin DB10 to the man for his test drive. Here it goes:

And Just to recap real quick, Aston Martin DB10 is based on the V12 Vantage and has the same running gear as the production model. The car features a bespoke body designed exclusively for the latest James Bond movie, SPECTRE, with inputs from director Sam Mendes. Maybe it’s just us, but every time we look at the DB10 we get the feeling it was designed on a shoestring and in a bit of a hurry. It could look a lot better than this because Aston Martin can do a lot better than this.

Aston Martin DB10-tour-0

As part of the publicity efforts for the new James Bond movie, SPECTRE, and also to create some buzz for the brand itself, Aston Martin has sent the new Bond car, Aston Martin DB10, on a tour of their select dealerships across the UK. The iconic DB5 and new DB9 GT accompany the DB10 on this journey.

Aston Martin DB10, as I’m sure you know, was designed exclusively for the new James Bond movie based on the V12 Vantage. It is naturally an exquisite thing, but one can’t help but think it was designed on a shoestring and in a bit of a hurry. I mean, people who came up with the Vantage and the Vanquish surely could have done a better job with that front-end!

At any rate, Aston Martin DB10 is the new Bond car and it is going to be that for a foreseeable future. For as long as writers can come up with imaginary missions for 007, Aston Martin is going to be there to provide him with a fabulous ride, defying all logic that spies should not drive conspicuous cars.

The tour continues till the end of this year with the DB10 visiting over 20 Aston Martin showrooms in the country. In the gallery below you’ll see some of the car’s best moment during the tour so far:

EON Productions, the producers of the James Bond film franchise, has just announced that the 24th installment of the movie will be launched as “Spectre.” That’s great news if you’re a fan of the franchise, but there’s even bigger news coming from Aston Martin, the automaker providing agent 007 with the finest sports cars since 1964. In case you haven’t guessed it yet, the Brits have developed yet another Bondmobile, this time in the form of a DB10. Yep, a brand-new vehicle that’s not available in the company’s current lineup. Aston says its a “bespoke sports car,” but it sounds like a concept to me; one that previews the next-generation DB9.

Now that’s a very good reason to get excited about the upcoming “Spectre” movie.

Details are still under wraps as of December 2014, but the DB10 concept looks downright aggressive. It is, in fact, the most aggressive-looking Aston Martin I’ve seen in recent years, and if this is what the company’s future looks like, we’re in for a gorgeous replacement to the DB9. Aston Martin plans to build 10 examples of this bespoke sports car, but don’t hold your breath for a chance to buy one.

Updated 10/14/2015: On October 11, Aston Martin hold a special club meeting called “Avenue De La Grande Armee” in Paris, France. One of our friends was in there, and next to a couple of classic Aston Martin cars he also got the chance to take a very close look at James Bond’s latest DB10 supercar. Even more, he also took some pictures of the interior.

Aston Martin DB10-007

What better way to celebrate the debut of Aston Martin DB10 in the new James Bond movie, SPECTRE, than letting the car itself talk? That’s exactly what Aston has done in the latest promotional clip they’ve made for the car, letting the car loose on an empty skid pad to say what’s on its mind. Turns out it’s 007!

Mind you, in its handwriting endeavor Aston Martin DB10 needed a little help from rally legend and SPECTRE stunt driver Mark Higgins:

Basically a V12 Vantage underneath, Aston Martin DB10 was created exclusively for the James Bond movie by a crack team of Aston engineers working closely with the film’s director, Sam Mendes.

Dr Andy Palmer, CEO of Aston Martin, said: “In the same year that we celebrate our 50-year relationship with 007, it seems doubly fitting that today we unveiled this wonderful new sports car created especially for James Bond. To be partnering once again with EON Productions is great news for this company and for everyone around the world that loves to see Bond at the wheel of an Aston Martin. I’m incredibly proud of everyone in the team at Gaydon who have brought this special project from concept to reality.”

PostHeaderIcon New Spectre Trailer Shows The Jag C-X75: Video

With three months left until the new “Spectre” film, the 24th installment of the James Bond series, makes its debut on the big screen, Eon Productions has released yet another trailer. The new video shows footage from different scenes throughout the film, confirming (if still needed) that “Spectre” will be one of the most action-packed movies in the James Bond series.

For gearheads, “Spectre” will also mark the debut of the 2015 Aston Martin DB10, a sports car specifically built for this film. Though AM said it will remain a James Bond vehicle only, the DB10 is of great importance to the auto industry, as some of its styling cues will make it onto the car that’s set to replace the current 2013 Aston Martin DB9 (likely to be named DB11).

As seen in the trailer above, “Spectre” will also feature the 2010 Jaguar C-X75, a hybrid concept car that debuted in 2010. But that’s not all. As usual, the upcoming James Bond will be packed with fast and luxurious automobiles, as well as plenty of chase scenes that are likely to become classics. OK, OK, Daniel Craig’s performance won’t match Steve McQueen’s in “Bullitt,” but it should be a lot of fun nonetheless.

In the meantime, check out the trailer and make sure you keep it locked here for the latest news on the upcoming “Spectre” film.

PostHeaderIcon SPECTRE Gets Action-Packed Extended Teaser

SPECTRE-extended

There is a new and lengthy trailer out for the new James Bond flick SPECTRE, showcasing pretty much all of the film’s good action scenes. As you would expect, there is a good deal of car chasing in it, with JB in his brand-new, bespoke Aston Martin DB10.

In the main chase scene of SPECTRE Bond’s Aston is harassed violently by a muscular baddie, played by wrestler Dave Bautista, in a Jaguar C-X17. Mercifully, it seems this time around Bond’s car does not have too many preposterous weaponry, just the usual stuff like machine guns and flame throwers.

So to sum up, SPECTRE includes a cool new Aston Martin and an amazing concept Jaguar, a young new Q, a more plausible plot than before, Léa Seydoux as the new Bond girl, and an old but still hot Monica Bellucci. You decide if it’s worth seeing or not.

PostHeaderIcon Latest SPECTRE Teaser Reveals More Action Scenes

new-SPECTRE-teaser

By the looks of things the new James Bond flick, SPECTRE, is going to be the best of the lot as far as petrolheads are concerned. There are a number of pretty sick machines in the film, and they are always involved in some sort of brutal chase with one another.

The new SPECTRE trailer, which is the first TV spot for the movie released in America, shows more of these action scenes, including one where Bond’s Aston Martin DB10 jumps over an Alfa Romeo 166 and then sets fire to the Jaguar C-X75 which is the baddie car:

So car fans are going to be happy with the new Bond film and we’re hearing good thing about the plot as well. It is said to be a strong story, less preposterous than what we’re used to from 007 adventures. Those who watch the film for the Bond girls might be a bit disappointed though. The main female highlights of the film are Léa Seydoux and a very old Monica Bellucci. Granted, Bellucci is still pretty hot in spite of her age, but still, the sex appeal of the movie is not on the par with, say, Die Another Day

PostHeaderIcon The Supercars From Spectre In Action: Video

If Skyfall went back to a simpler time to find its hero car, an Aston Martin DB5 identical to the one from 1964’s Goldfinger, then the exact opposite is true for the upcoming James Bond flick, Spectre. Both the Aston Martin DB10, driven by James Bond, and Jaguar C-X75, driven by villain Mr. Hinx, have never been and never will be available to the public. Spectre’s chase scene through the streets of Rome will likely be the only time we see the pair driven in anger (and probably destroyed), and this clip provides an awesome behind-the-scenes look at the action.

If you need a refresher, the DB10 was built specifically for Spectre, and even though it’s a one-off, it gives us a pretty good hint at what the fourth-coming DB9 replacement will probably look like. The C-X75, meanwhile, was Jaguar’s hypercar that never quite made it to production. That’s a shame, because with a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine generating power for four electric motors (one at each wheel) it would have been a fascinating car. Still, watching it chase Bond down through Rome should be a thrill. Spectre hits theaters in November 2015.

PostHeaderIcon SPECTRE Teaser: Aston Martin DB10 vs Jaguar C-X75

spectre-chase-scene

As you may know from our behind the scenes coverage of thew James Bond flick, SPECTRE, the film includes some very delicious chase scenes with some seriously hot super cars. The latest official teaser shows how they filmed the Aston Martin DB10 vs Jaguar C-X75 chase scene in Rome.

And yes, that big guy is WWE wrestler-turned-actor Dave Bautista who plays the baddie Mr. Hinx in the new film. The SPECTRE is shaping up to be a pretty awesome movie:

In case you didn’t know already, Aston Martin DB10 is a one-off car built by the British auto maker based on the V12 Vantage exclusively for the movie. It is the new Bond car and in SPECTRE it takes on a number of rivals including Range Rover Sports and the amazing Jaguar C-X75 you saw in the video. That Jag is also a one-off, but it’s a concept they made years ago and then put on hold because it was deemed way too exotic for today’s market, meaning they thought it might not sell well enough. With the high-profile role the C-X75 has now won though, Jaguar may rethink their strategy in the near future.

PostHeaderIcon Aston Martin DB11 Spied For The First Time: Spy Shots

It’s been just two weeks since the successor to the Aston Martin DB9 was spotted carving the Nurburgring, and the Brits already started testing a new mule of their upcoming grand tourer. It wouldn’t be a big deal if the prototype was wearing the old DB9 body in the process, but this new mule gives us our first look at the DB11’s design. I say “DB11” because that’s the name the DB9’s successor is likely to receive, since Aston Martin already trademarked it and since the DB10 moniker is already used by the one-off car created for the James Bond “Spectre” movie.

Expect the DB11 to break cover sometime in 2016 for the 2017 model year, as the first Aston Martin built on the company’s new platform. The DB9, and all the other Aston Martins currently in production for that matter, including the DB10, use the VH (Vertical/Horizontal) architecture introduced all the way back in 2001. New engines are also on the table, so make sure you keep reading to find out more about the upcoming DB11.

PostHeaderIcon Spectre Trailer Features Aston Martin DB10: Video

Bullitt might have included the greatest car chase in movie history, but, as far as car features go, the film that made Steve McQueen a legend can’t hold a candle to the James Bond series. Now don’t get me wrong, I love late 1960s Mustangs and Chargers, but have you seen the Bond car cast since filming began more than 50 years ago? They used Bentleys, Cadillacs, Corvettes, Jaguars, and Rolls-Royces, just to name a few brands. Not to mention all those sexy Aston Martins, and especially the DB5, which made a comeback in 2012’s Skyfall. For 2015, however, when EON Productions will launch the 24th installment of the series, there won’t be a DB5, but a concept car Aston Martin specifically developed for the film.

It’s the DB10, a two-door GT that previews the next-generation DB9, and is arguably the most important Bond hero car since the series debuted in 1962. That’s one more reason for us gearheads to keep an eye on the making of the movie and take cinemas by storm once Spectre hits the big screen. At least we won’t have to wait much longer (November 6th, 2015), as the DB10 has already hit the Interwebz starring in various scenes filmed in Rome, Italy. With filming in that part of the world completed, EON Production released the first teaser trailer. And as expected, it includes footage of the Aston Martin DB10.

No more spoilers though, just hit play to get an idea about what the new James Bond is all about.

PostHeaderIcon Jaguar C-X75 Almost Crashes Into Aston Martin DB10 During Spectre Filming: Video

With Spectre, the 24th James Bond film, currently filming with some pretty special cars, movie buffs and car aficionados try to get a glimpse of the action from the set. This time, a number of action sequences for Spectre take place in Italy, where it is expected that Bond’s Aston Martin DB10 will try to evade a villain’s Jaguar C-X75.

Known car-spotter and YouTube user Marchettino got ahold of the footage above after it was shot on the streets of Rome. Most of the chase sequences are pure gold, but the real bum-clenching moment happens around the 0:34 minute mark, when the Jaguar narrowly misses the braking DB10 and almost runs over a member of the film crew. Recent reports mention that at least one of the cars is driven by ex-Stig and former racing driver Ben Collins, but there is no way of knowing if he was wheeling the Aston or the Jag in this sequence.

If the scene is not enough to get your blood pumping, turning up the volume is bound to do it, as both supercars involved in the chase sound like something out of a horror movie — in the good way, of course. Another interesting bit is how the DB10 always enters that corner in full drift, while its foe is constantly trying to hit the apex and is actually gaining on the Aston.

PostHeaderIcon Aston Martin DB10 On The Spectre Movie Set: Video

There are always at least two main reasons to watch James Bond movies: the cars and the women. While Léa Seydoux will undoubtedly make a great Bond girl as Madeleine Swann in Spectre,http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2379713/ the lineup of cars that will be in this film is perhaps even more stunning, with the Jaguar C-X75 sharing screen time (and a chase scene) with the new Aston Martin DB10.

We just had our first live sighting of the DB10 last week as the car and its stunt drivers got accustomed to one another in England, and now we have an even better view of the car thanks to the video showing a trio of DB10s sitting around on a set in Rome. The latest video reveals the new Bond cars from just about every angle, and the best part is that we can finally hear that engine – whatever it may be – fire up. Like all current Aston Martins, the DB10 will have an exhaust note that is topped only by its exquisite design.

It remains to be seen what sorts of fancy gadgets the DB10 will exhibit in the move, but one thing is instantly clear: this car has amazing brakes. Shortly after being fired up in the video, a driver is backing one of the DB10s up and almost runs into another DB10.
