PostHeaderIcon Aston Martin DBS Superleggera Volante

.split785052

The 2020 Aston Martin DBS Superleggera Volante is the cabriolet version of the company’s latest range-topping grand tourer. Introduced to replace the already iconic but old Vanquish S Volante, the DBS Superleggera name returns after a six-year absence with a brand-new design, underpinnings from the 2018 Aston Martin DB11, and a turbocharged V-12 engine that generates in excess of 700 horsepower.

Designed to replace the aging Vanquish Volante, the 2020 DBS Superleggera Volante benefits from Aston Martin’s new design language that’s sleeker and more aggressive. The cabriolet is identical to the coupe below the waist, but it features a canvas top instead of the usual metal roof. A more luxurious interior, new technology, and a beefed-up drivetrain round out the grand tourer that challenges the 2020 Bentley Continental GTC.

PostHeaderIcon The 2020 Aston Martin DBS Superleggera Volante Is Your New 211-MPH Open-Top Cruise Missile

Aston Martin just unveiled the 2020 DBS Superleggera Volante! Framed as the convertible version of the brand’s hugely desirable DBS Superleggera coupe, the Volante pairs all the usual grand touring awesomeness with endless drop-top fun.

Mounted in that shapely frontend is the same engine as the hardtop DBS Superleggera, namely a turbocharged 5.2-liter V-12 producing 715 horsepower and 664 pound-feet of torque. Routing the power to the rear axle is an eight-speed automatic transmission from ZF.

Top speed clocks in at 211 mph, while the sprint to 62 mph takes 3.6 seconds. Keep your foot down, and the Volante will go from 0 to 100 mph in 6.7 seconds.

You’ll have eight body colors to choose from, as well as six headliner colors. Quad exhaust pipes are in the rear, while up front, the reworked aero blasts the brakes with cold air, while also reducing lift and enhancing stability. Interestingly, the new bodyworks produces up to 390 pounds of downforce at speed, just 6.6 pounds less than what you get with the coupe model.

The fabric roof takes 14 seconds to open and 16 seconds to close, but we’d recommend keeping it open to make it easier to hear that V-12 wail. Leather, carbon fiber, and metal accents make it nice inside the cabin.

Pricing for the 2020 Aston Martin DBS Superleggera Volante starts at $329,100. Look for deliveries to kick off in the third quarter of the year.

PostHeaderIcon Aston Martin Marks 60 Years Since Only Le Mans Win with Special DBS 59 Edition

If you want the ultimate front-engined Aston Martin experience and your bank accounts are adequately full, you have to go with the DBS Superleggera – the 715 horsepower monster that weighs under 4,000 pounds and can reach 211 mph. If you’re crazy about the brand’s history, then the DBS 59 is the car for you as it looks back at Aston’s first big splash in motorsport.

We’ve talked about the DBS Superleggera 59 before when Aston Martin first released a few pictures of the new limited-edition model commissioned by Aston Martin Cambridge for an occasion like no other in the brand’s history: the 60th anniversary of Roy Salvadori and Carroll Shelby’s sole overall win at Le Mans aboard the works-backed Aston Martin DBR1/300. We’re talking a lot here about a variety of manufacturers trying to find any sort of reason that could warrant the introduction of a special model, but this one right here is really special.

Why? Because it’s a way at looking back while keeping in mind that Aston Martin might mount an attack on Le Mans with its sights locked on the overall victory with a ’hypercar’ as per the new regulations that are set to be introduced in the World Endurance Championship in little over a year. These new rules, apparently, will allow Aston Martin Valkyrie-type cars to compete in what is currently the LMP1 category.

PostHeaderIcon Zagato’s Centenary Aston Martin Looks Stunning In First Renders

We’re getting closer to the unveiling of what will be one of the prettiest cars of 2019: the Aston Martin DBS GT Zagato. What’s even better is that the front-engined grand tourer won’t come alone as, with it, the 19 buyers will get a painstakingly accurate recreation of the 1960 Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato. Now, we’re getting a peek of how the two will look together.

The Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato, one of the most beautiful Aston Martins ever made and, also, one of the most expensive, is still an object of lust almost 60 years after it was produced. One of them, the example known as ’2VEV’ due to its number plate, sold a few years ago for $13.1 million at auction. The recreation you’re getting along with the DBS GT Zagato, though, won’t cost you $13 million. It won’t even cost you $10 million. In fact, the two can be had – they won’t be sold separately – for the not-so-steep sum of $7.9 million. If you think that’s still too much, then take a look at these renders…

PostHeaderIcon Aston Martin DBS Superleggera TAG Heuer Edition

The first seed of Aston Martin’s newly minted partnership with TAG Heuer has born fruit in the form of a special edition DBS Superleggera. Appropriately called the TAG Heuer Edition, the special edition DBS Superleggera is the four-wheeled embodiment of refined excellence. Exclusive features abound throughout the coupe’s exterior and interior, and the result is a stealthy-looking supercar that speaks loudly to the shared ideals of both Aston Martin and TAG Heuer. If you’re looking for a special edition supercar that oozes craftsmanship, quality, precision, and attention to detail, look no further than the Aston Martin DBS Superleggera TAG Heuer Edition. Only 50 units of this special edition DBS Superleggera will be made. Each model costs £295,000, which converts to around $390,000 based on current exchange rates.

Aston Martin has cooked up a limited edition DBS Superleggera for one of its most famous dealerships in the U.K. Called the Aston Martin DBS 59, the special edition DBS was commissioned by Aston Martin Cambridge as an homage to the legendary DBR1 race car that won the 24 Hours of Le Mans back in 1959. In true Aston Martin fashion, the DBS 59 comes to us by way of the automaker’s Q division, which has been responsible for some of the most drool-worthy Aston Martin special edition models in recent years. The DBS 59 is dripping with exclusive touches in the exterior and interior befitting a true special edition Aston Martin. The DBS 59 will be available exclusively from Aston Martin Cambridge, and the dealership is now taking orders.

PostHeaderIcon October 5 is Now Known as Global James Bond Day!

Aston Martin has long been associated with James Bond. The relevance of cars in movies more or less started with the Aston Martin cars featuring in James Bond movies. To commemorate this iconic relationship, Aston Martin has teamed up with the producers of James Bond, EON Productions and Sky, to celebrate “Global James Bond Day” today, the October 5th.

PostHeaderIcon Aston Martin Isn’t Done With the DBS Superleggera

If you’re not done drooling over the raunchy Aston Martin DBS Superleggera, you might need to have some paper napkins nearby because Aston Martin is reportedly looking into developing a more extreme version of the 715-horsepower DBS Superleggera. Nothing is set in stone yet, but the belief is that the AMR DBS Superleggera — that’s the name it’s tipped to go by — will be released sometime in late 2019 or early 2020 with a bump in price compared to its “tamer” DBS Superleggera counterpart.

PostHeaderIcon Full Walkaround of the Aston Martin DBS Superleggera – Video

The Aston Martin DBS Superleggera is, on paper, the British automaker’s flagship grand tourer. More important than that, though, is how the new model fits in Aston Martin’s hierarchy. The DBS Superleggera, ladies and gentlemen, is the long-awaited replacement for the Vanquish S. It also happens to be lighter and more powerful than the DB11, having shaved almost 160 pounds compared to the DB11, all while packing 715 horsepower and 663 pound-feet of torque.

If you haven’t seen the DBS Superleggera, then you’re in for a treat. Noted auto blogger Shmee150 was able to see the newest Aston at its unveiling. Not only was he able to take a good look at the DBS Superleggera, he also spent a good amount of time going through all the stylistic nuances that make this model one of the finest creations Aston Martin has come up with in recent memory. The DBS Superleggera’s design almost touches supercar levels. Sure, there are still hints of Aston’s trademark styling, but the low-slung stance and low ground clearance of the DBS Superleggera give it a more performance-oriented aura, the likes of which we haven’t seen from Aston Martin in quite some time. Other design hints like the side louvers and the entire rear section also enhance its supercar aura.

The interior is similar to the DB11, but Aston Martin found ways to raise the stakes in the cabin of the DBS Superleggera. The dark chrome bezels on the center console are one example of the increased attention to luxury design. It’s the same thing with the chopped carbon fiber on the door trim. You rarely see that kind of treatment on luxury models like Bentley and Rolls-Royce. Seeing it on an Aston Martin is definitely a welcome and pleasant addition.

The Aston Martin DBS Superleggera is a design achievement for the British automaker. Calling it “stunning” doesn’t do justice to how it looks. But more than that, the new range-topping GT also packs a 5.2-liter V-12 engine that Aston Martin debuted in the DB11, albeit revised to accommodate a more powerful setup amounting to 715 horsepower and 664 pound-feet of torque. Do the math, and that’s an extra 115 horsepower and 148 pound-feet of torque more than what you can get out of the DB11.

Aston Martin isn’t messing around with the DBS Superleggera. It promised a worthy successor to the Vanquish S, and it more than delivered. Now, all that’s left is to see how the automaker’s new GT model stacks up against the competition. Something tells me that it’s going to more than hold its own.

PostHeaderIcon The Aston Martin DBS Superleggera vs the Ferrari 812 Superfast vs the Bentley Continental GT

It is a well-known fact at this point that the latest Aston Martin DBS Superleggera will go after the Ferrari 812 Superfast. Even Aston Martin officials implied this. However, I am fairly certain that in terms of poise, speed, technology, and price, the Bentley Continental GT may be thrown in the same ring in an endless fight for prestige among super luxury GTs. Sure, the coupe from Crewe isn’t as hardcore as the machines from Gaydon and Maranello, but the Continental GT will gain even more spirited versions in the future. Some of them will definitely take aim at the buyers of the DBS or the 812. The Supersports, I am looking at you.

For now, let’s see how the Aston Martin DBS Superleggera, the Ferrari 812 Superfast, and the Bentley Continental GT stack up against one another.

PostHeaderIcon Mid-Year Review: The 6 Most Important Cars of 2018

Apart from really important SUV debuts, the first six months of 2018 saw the introduction of some astonishing cars as well. We had it all, from electric supercars to coupe-like performance sedans and standard, but revolutionary sedans.

This year is seeing a smart shift in car development thinking. Obviously, companies have to reinvent their business model and offer the world something unique. This led to the introduction of the new BMW 8 Series Coupe, the fantastic Volvo S60 which you don’t have to buy but subscribe to it as you do with Netflix, and the super fast luxury GT that’s as mad as the 812 Superfast – the DBS Superleggera. Then there is the Rimac C_Two – a car that basically showcases the growth of a young car company. Thanks to technology wonders, we can basically watch the company development live. And, the Rimac C_Two was their Rumble in the Jungle moment. These are this year’s six most thrilling debuts so far.

PostHeaderIcon Wallpaper of the Day: 2019 Aston Martin DBS Superleggera

Aston Martin’s new flagship tourer is finally here, and it brings with it two iconic names blended together and plenty of power to make models like the Ferrari 812 Superfast tremble with fear. To make the new Superleggera what it is, Aston Martin did some serious work to the underpinnings that were borrowed from the DB11. In essence, the automaker managed to shed a total of 160 pounds and threw in a more aggressive design that makes it worthy of flagship status. Powering the beast is Aston’s familiar 5.2-liter V-12, but it’s tuned to deliver a gut-wrenching 715 horsepower and 663 pound-feet of torque – enough to push this beaut up to 50 mph in 3.4 seconds and all the way to a top speed of 211 mph.

All of this in mind, we saw it only fitting to make the new DBS Superleggera our wallpaper of the day here at TopSpeed and decided to share our favorite wallpaper selections with you. Our favorite is showcased below, but there’s plenty more in the gallery just a little lower. Go ahead – spruce up your desktop a little bit. You deserve it.

PostHeaderIcon Comparison: 2019 Aston Martin DBS Superleggera vs. Aston Martin DB11

Aston’s latest addition to the world of high-end speed is the DBS Superleggera, a V-12-powered range-topping super GT flagship. This thing is one big, bad monster machine, but peel back the sultry body pieces, and you’ll find the Aston Martin DB11, which provides both the underpinnings and many of the mechanical bits. So then, how do they compare?

PostHeaderIcon 5 Tech Features That Would make the Aston Martin DBS Superlegerra a Supercar in Any Dictionary

Appearing to the delight of the entire world, the latest Aston Martin DBS Superleggera has been almost unanimously declared the best iteration of Aston Martin’s new design language. Yet, you are not here to read about the sexy shapes and curves of the latest British super GT.

“The DBS Superleggera not only marks the return of a great Aston Martin name, but signals our return to the very pinnacle of the Super GT sector,” Andy Palmer, Aston Martin’s CEO, comments. “Handsome beyond measure, its lightweight carbon composite and aluminum body is sculpted into a shape with tremendous presence and charisma.”

Learn about five most important features of the new Aston Martin DBS Superleggera which make it one of the most advanced and most thrilling Super GTs in the world. As the word supercar lost its true meaning all the way back when people started calling the GT-R a supercar, I will go out on a limb and say it – I think that the DBS Superleggera is closer to being a supercar than any other sports cars ever was.

PostHeaderIcon Which Cars Could Possibly Compare with the Aston Martin DBS Superleggera?

First of all, you have to bear in mind that all the cars in the so-called super luxury GT class have somewhat unique characteristics. They aren’t as segmentized as, say, compact hatchbacks, or midsize sedans. That being said, there is no direct competitor to either one of them, but they are all competing with each other on one level or another. The Aston Martin Superleggera entered the segment as a sexy beast poised to take on Ferrari. It is a hard-core machine, but not without its luxury merit. Considering its fighting nature, laced with lush luxury and
Aston Martin delight, the DBS Superleggera competes within both segments – the fast and the luxury. That is why it has to take on everything – from a Rolls-Royce to a Ferrari.

Some characteristics for this comparison had to be set, though. All cars have to have two doors, a V-12 engine under the hood, some exceptional performance figures, and they need to be handsomely priced.

The 2019 Aston Martin DBS Superleggera is finally here, and with it, the folks from Gaydon have released an online configurator to tweak and customize yours to perfection. We dove in head first, and this is the result.

PostHeaderIcon Love It or Leave It – The 2019 Aston Martin DBS Superleggera

Having seen the gorgeous designs and solid performance figures of the DB11 and the new-generation Vantage, we were extremely anxious to see what Aston Martin has in store for next-generation Vanquish. The flagship grand tourer was finally unveiled this month, and alongside everything that is new inside and out, it also gained a new badge. Say goodbye to the Vanquish (for the second time), and hello to the DBS Superleggera.

Revived after six years, the DBS nameplate replaces the Vanquish for the second time. But this time around, it’s joined by the “Superleggera” badge, which Aston Martin is using as a tribute to the Carrozzeria Touring, the design firm that helped pen the iconic DB4, DB5, and DB6. What do we think about this new design and the tech under the skin? Find out from the TopSpeed staff below.

PostHeaderIcon 5 Important Facts About the Aston Martin DBS Superleggera

Aston Martin just replaced the Vanquish S with the DBS Superleggera, and the new grand tourer is a stunning vehicle in terms of design and technology. It’s lighter, faster, and more powerful than its predecessor, while also incorporating a lot more technology and race-inspired features. The new two-door also marks the return of the “DBS” badge, and it’s the company’s first modern vehicle that pays tribute to Carrozzeria Touring, the design house that helped pen some of the most iconic Aston Martins. But more on this and other important facts about the DBS Superleggera in the article below.
