laferrari aperta london

This triple-layer yellow LaFerrari Aperta is currently one of the coolest things in London’s supercar scene, so much so that even the presence of a DB5 Aston, as you will see in the video after the jump, does not manage to steal its thunder. So let’s see the magnificent beast as it cruises the high streets of the old city in both normal and secret electric mode.

The man owning this LaFerrari Aperta must be a pretty good sport. Besides letting the spotters film his car with smile he also appears to be very trusting as in the second part of the video he lends his multi million pound hyper car to his girl and let her drive it. Kudos, mate.

PostHeaderIcon Is This the Most Unique McLaren P1 MSO Yet Seen?

p1-mso-spot (2)

Usually when you see a hyper car with a crazy two-tone paint work it is a wrap done by some tuner to give the car a temporary fresh look. But that is not the case with this McLaren P1 MSO. The owner of this car decided it would be a good idea to give McLaren Special Operations a whole lot of money to paint his car like a milkweed bug.

So this will probably be the first ever McLaren P1 MSO with a simple and understated wrap to cover up the insane factory paintwork. That is, of course, when the owner finally gets fed up with this scheme and find out he can’t sell the car because not many people share his taste. It’s not that the design is positively ugly. It’s just that it’s too elaborate and attention seeking and therefore not cool.

And just for the record, here’s the milkweed bug:

large_milkweed_bug_new_york

McLaren P1 technical highlights:

Aero-led design produces more downforce than any other production road car
-916PS (903 hp) generated by 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol engine coupled to an electric motor gives tremendous power and instant throttle response with an electronically limited top speed of 350 km/h (217 mph)
-Active ride height, and aerodynamics work with large adjustable rear wing to give ground effect suction and optimised downforce
-IPAS (Instant Power Assist System) and DRS (Drag Reduction System) offer instant boost of power and straight-line speed
-The MonoCage is one of the lightest carbon fibre full-body structures used in any road car to date, weighing 90kg. This weight includes the roof and lower structures, roof snorkel, engine air intake cavity, battery and power electronics housing
-MonoCage chassis includes fibres more than five times the strength of the best grade titanium, and includes the use of Kevlar
-0 to 300 km/h in less than 17 seconds – five seconds quicker than the legendary McLaren F1

PostHeaderIcon Lamborghini Centenario Snapped Outside Factory

Lamborghini Centenario-spot-1

This, to our knowledge, is the first time we get to see the wonderfully weird Lamborghini Centenario out in the wild after the car’s debut at the Geneva Motor Show. Mind you, Sant’Agata does not really count as “wild” since it’s the location of Lambo’s factory.

Still, it is cool to see Lamborghini Centenario under the natural light of the sun and not the deceiving rays of strategically placed projectors at a motor show. The car looks less shiny here, but make no mistake, just as insane. The unique design of front and rear bumpers combined with the gunmetal grey paint job, yellow accents, and carbon wheels, grabs hold of every eight-year-old boy’s imagination and wouldn’t let go.

Lamborghini Centenario-spot-2

And it’s not just the real eight-year-olds we’re talking about, but grown men with the mental age of an eight-year-old. Forty of them with a sufficiently fat bank account will be able to buy this thing as Lambo is making 20 coupe and 20 roadsters. They will all be powered by 770 hp version of Aventador’s V12 and do 0-100 km/h in 2.8 seconds, and 0-300 km/h in 23.5 seconds, with a top speed of more than 350 km/h.

Lamborghini Centenario-spot-3

“The Centenario is a car that perfectly combines tradition and innovation. It looks to the future while honouring the legend that is Ferruccio Lamborghini,” said the outgoing Automobili Lamborghini President and CEO Stephan Winkelmann. “The Centenario is an opportunity for our designers and engineers to transcend some of the constraints of series car production to achieve an incomparable result: the Centenario has immediately proved itself as a desirable collectors’ car, while demonstrating new Lamborghini technologies and outstanding performance. It is the most fitting tribute to Ferruccio Lamborghini in his centenary year: a man who created an exceptional brand, believed that anything was possible, and produced extraordinary, iconic cars. The Centenario is a super sports car for Ferruccio Lamborghini and the future he and we believe in today.”

Britain’s most famous celebrity chef and hard-core Ferrari aficionado Gordon Ramsay is one of the first in the country to get his hands on the new Ferrari F12tdf. He was spotted this weekend driving his bespoke TDF, featuring bespoke paint work and stripes, around London.

The car is almost as cool as the man himself, who took his time to take pictures with the spotters and allowed them to “spot” his car to their heart’s content. What a sport!

PostHeaderIcon Camo Wrapped Mercedes AMG GT Spotted in Zurich

Camo Wrapped AMG GT-0

As a general rule we don’t like camo wrapped cars for the same reason we don’t like the douchebags who wear military jackets and pretend they’ve served. That said, every once in a while we come across a car, like this Mercedes AMG GT, that pulls off the camo wrap so beautifully, we can’t help but raise our hand in salute!

An Edition 1 model complete with carbon aero kit and special matte black wheels, this Mercedes AMG GT has got a full custom treatment with the camouflage wrap, blacked-out grille and logos, and a prominent Mercedes-Benz start on the nose. The latter belongs to luxury models of the German car makers and sports models get only a flat badge. But clearly the owner of this GT likes that as a feature.

So next time the owner of this Mercedes AMG GT shows up for his Airsfot game he’s going to look mighty impressive. And if lost the game and got pummeled, he’s got a fast and fun car to drive back home in and chase away his pains. The GT S is powered by a 510 horsepower bi-turbo V8 engine mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox which enables the car to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.5 seconds.

Purple Pagani Huayra-0

While the world continues to drool all over the new Huayra BC with its massive wings and unsightly stripes, we want to have another look at the original in these superb photos of a Purple Pagani Huayra, spotted the other day in Stuttgart. This car looks its best clutter free.

And by clutter we mean excessively big aero parts, silly stripes, or ridiculously shiny paint works. As you can see here with this Purple Pagani Huayra, a simple, elegant, and unique paint finish is all you need to make your hyper car look even more stupefyingly beautiful. The simplicity here results in more elegance, whereas the wings and stripes of the BC – and we’re sorry for laying this truth on you – makes you look like a dork – a rich dork, but a dork nonetheless.

Miami Blue Porsche 991 GT3 RS-0

A few days ago we showed you a Lime Green example of the Porsche 991 GT3 RS. Turns out that wasn’t the most weirdly wonderful color the sports car comes in. That title probably belongs to this one right here, finished in a super special “Miami Blue”.

It’s an apt name, Miami Blue, since the paint job has a certain glow about it like it’s being constantly caressed by the Miami sun which makes anything look more vibrant. It’s almost as if the sun in that city is on cocaine, too. At any rate, the Miami Blue Porsche 991 GT3 RS is undoubtedly one of the most eye-catching examples of this car we’ve ever come across. This is apparently a limited edition color applied to only 22 units worldwide.

PostHeaderIcon Maserati Levante Spotted on the Streets of Geneva

Maserati Levante Spot-0

Following its debut at the Geneva Motor Show, the new Maserati Levante SUV was spotted out and about on the streets, flaunting a weird but interesting design and a rich chocolaty brown paint job. And it certainly looks different in the wild than it did on the show floor under strategically placed lights.

We’re not saying Maserati Levante looks terrible or anything, but as most of the journalists who visited this year’s Geneva Show have reported, the SUV has a challenging front-end, what with those narrow headlights and gaping mouth with chrome teeth. The side profile is pretty good, it has to be said, featuring some nice curves and styling details. The rear is just all right, nothing too fancy about it.

Another thing you notice looking at the Maserati Levante in the flesh is that the SUV is smaller than what it may seem in the pictures. It’s the unique design that creates the illusion the Levante is a giant, but when you see people standing next to it, this Maser is actually more of a crossover than a full-sized utility vehicle. It is a tad smaller than its main rival, Porsche Cayenne, which might put some people off.

Regardless of the looks, Maserati’s SUV is a refreshing new offering in a segment where all the cars are pretty much the same. The Levante introduces a strong sporty flavor to the SUV’s traditional mix of space, ride height, and practicality, making the whole thing a more enjoyable experience.

McLaren 675LT Spider Spot

We hadn’t stopped drooling yet from seeing the MSO version of the new McLaren 675LT Spider at the Geneva Motor Show when we came across this video showing two examples of the drop-top supercar driving on the road. Now we’re having a stroke. My God this thing is hot!

The reason McLaren 675LT Spider is so awesome is because it is based on three layers of awesomeness. It begins with the 650S hardtop which was then turned into the 650 Spider, then spawned the LongTail 675LT Coupe and now this. This model features everything that is good about those cars, and then some. We’re particularly digging that “Solis” color – first time we ever liked gold paint job on a car.

Lamborghini Huracan Avio-spot-0

Even though the limited edition Lamborghini Huracan Avio is still on display as a new model at the Geneva Motor Show, an example of the car was spotted out on the street. Granted, it was one of Geneva’s streets. But still, it’s very cool to see one of these out in the wild so soon.

The Lamborghini Huracan Avio spotted here features one of nicest of the five exclusive colors available for this model called Grigio Nibbio which is a matte, frozen kind of grey. It goes really well with the unique styling features of the Avio model, including white double striping, white mirror caps and aero parts, and the L63 logos on the doors.

Designed to honor the Italian Air Force, Lamborghini Huracan Avio is produced in limited numbers with unique visual features inside and out. The main highlight of the exterior, as mentioned, is the L63 logo in which “L” stands for Lamborghini and “63” for the year the company was founded. Inside the cabin you get Alcantara upholstery with laser-engraved hexagonal motifs and more L63 logos.

PostHeaderIcon A Closer Look at Range Rover Evoque Convertible

Evoque Convertible-live-0

I know you are all hot for the Geneva Motor Show these days, but let’s take a look back at the Brussels Motor Show from last month, and one of the coolest cars on display there which deserves more attention. It’s the new Range Rover Evoque Convertible in production trim and a hot paint job.

Tell me this here is not serious eye candy! This fire red Range Rover Evoque Convertible is quite possibly the best-looking utility vehicle every designed, and although it’s had a hard birth and we’re still not sure it can find a good place in the market, its very existence is a cause for celebration. It shows there are still people in the car industry who give fund and games a higher priority than common-sense stuff like sales number and production cost.

Mind you, Land Rover has not gone completely nuts. They do realize that an open-top SUV has a limited market and therefore will make only a limited number of Range Rover Evoque Convertible. What’s more, the car has a relatively high price tag which is another reason it may not sell very well. The example you see here is a HSE Dynamic version powered by a 180 PS TD4 diesel engine, and it starts at 51,600 Euros. In fairness though, that price includes a set of totally bitchin’ 20-inch rims!

Oakley Design Bugatti Veyron Film

A few days we got to see the long-awaited Oakley Design Bugatti Veyron in its full glory as the tuner finally took the wraps off the finished product and revealed their one-off custom Veyron. Now the car is out there giving its owner a lot of joy, and the man is really using it, going places in it and leaving it by the side of the road so spotters can film and photograph it to their heart’s content!

There are so many different variants of the Veyron around that an uninterested eye may not notice what’s different about the Oakley Design Bugatti Veyron. So check out the video and we’ll tell you:

Oakley Design Bugatti Veyron comes with a custom, bespoke, one-off styling kit consisting of front spoiler, rear diffuser, and side skirts, complemented with a new set of wheels and a matching interior. It takes guts to modify a car as high-end as the Veyron, but Oakley has pulled it off nicely. What’s more, they’ve also upgraded the car’s W16 quad-turbo engine and boosted it from 1001 PS to 1,145 PS with 1,580 Nm of torque.

Black on Gold McLaren 675LT-0

After the Mexico Blue and Napier Green, we thought we have shown you the nicest colors of the  McLaren 675LT. There was no way anything could top those. And now we have to take that back, as we have come across a super unique black on gold McLaren 675LT which is stunning as hell.

Granted, not everyone’s going to like the deep black paint job on this LT tasteful. And there is the argument that this color obscures all the cool styling features of the car, making it look like a 650S. But you have to admit, the combination of the black paint and the gold aftermarket wheels has resulted in a spectacular look for the car. Next to this, all those blues and oranges and greens look rather inane.
