PostHeaderIcon DS 7 CROSSBACK E-TENSE 4×4 – Quirky But Smart

The latest generation of Citroen DS cars have managed to blend their cool French quirkiness with 21st century technology and common sense. The new DS 7 CROSSBACK E-TENSE 4×4 is a prime example of this. The SUV is almost surreal in terms of design – at least compared with other offerings in this segment – but it is smart and orderly where it matters.

So while you get the refreshingly crazy looks and the wonderfully unique interior, underneath the DS 7 CROSSBACK E-TENSE 4×4 is one of the best-engineered cars in its class. It has a three-motor hybrid system consisting of a 200hp (147kW) petrol engine and two 109hp (80kW) electric engines. These are managed by an 8-speed automatic transmission which drives all four wheels. The combined output is 300hp with torque of 450Nm. What’s more, you get 50 kilometres/31 miles of zero emission electric drive.

Other smart features of the DS 7 CROSSBACK E-TENSE 4×4 include the Formula E-inspired ‘E-SAVE’. It allows the driver to save enough energy to drive in all-electric mode for the last 10 or 20 kilometres / 6 or 12 miles of a journey. There is also regenerative ‘BRAKE’ function which does what it says on the tin. As for charging, since this is a plug-in system, you are looking at 2 hours using a wall-mounted terminal (32A) and with a 6.6 kW charger or 8 hours with a traditional socket.

There aren’t that many features distinguishing the E-TENSE from the regular ICE-powered DS 7 CROSSBACK. You have the 19 inch wheels, the Crystal Grey, and the ‘E’ embossed on the gearbox control.

PostHeaderIcon PSA To Electrify All Its New Models Launched From 2019

French Auto Group PSA has announced that it will be electrifying all the models launched from 2019 onward. All cars will either be fully-electric or hybrid. This applies to all the brands under the PSA Group, including Peugeot, Citroën, DS, Vauxhall, and Opel. PSA is one of the first automakers to announce the electrification process across its entire group range. The first one to do it was Volvo.

PostHeaderIcon Citroen C5 Aircross

Citroen plans to woo future C5 Aircross buyers with chunky SUV looks, striking fascias, and colorful design details. What you’re essentially looking at here is not an SUV, but the evolution of the European people carrier which Citroen chose to launch before the long overdue replacement for the C5 sedan and wagon.

First revealed for the Chinese market last year, and set to make its European debut at the Paris motor show this October, the C5 Aircross has been confirmed to arrive in showrooms by the end of 2018 with minor changes. Underpinning it is the same EMP2 platform used for the Peugeot 3008, 5008, and the Opel Grandland X – like these models from within the PSA group, the new C5 Aircross also lacks an all-wheel-drive option and only features Grip Control.

Previous C5-badged Citroens all used to feature the firm’s excellent hydropneumatic adjustable suspension, but here it’s been ditched in favor of what they call Progressive Hydraulic Cushions – basically two hydraulic stops on each corner: one for rebound and one for compression – and this is said to provide a very smooth ride, although the system is nowhere near as advanced as the previous one.

PostHeaderIcon DS3 Crossback Is Unusual, But Fascinating

That pretty much sums up the entire DS range, does it not? They are all unusual but fascinating cars. In the case of the new DS3 Crossback they have dialed the crazy a bit higher, offering a car that is unlike anything else out there. Whether this is something the market will embrace or shun remains to be seen.

Our money is on the shun thing. For all its quirkiness, the DS3 Crossback is just too ugly around the front with those headlights. It looks like a Pokemon monster or something like that. Those headlights boast, by the way, advanced DS MATRIX LED VISION system. Other interesting design elements in the Crossback include non-visible weather-strip seals, flush-fitting door handles, side shark fin, and chrome-finished twin tailpipes for ICE models.

Speaking of models, DS3 Crossback comes in 100 percent Internal Combustion Engine and 100 percent electric variants. The electric version has a range of 450 kilometres / 280 miles (NEDC) and 136 PS of output. It sprints from 0 to 60 mph in 8.7 seconds and requires a full five hours for a full charge – though fast chargers can cut that time significantly. As for the ICE options, the PureTech petrol comes in 100, 130 and 155 variants, and the diesel 1.5-litre BlueHDi gives 100 PS.

We should also mention the highlights of the interior. 2019 DS3 Crossback features full-grain Nappa leather with an ‘Art Leather’ finish, top-stitching in a pearl or diamond pattern, braided textiles, Alcantara steering wheel, and chrome trim with a Paris Hobnail guilloche design. So yes, the cabin is as avant-garde as the exterior. IS that enough to sway you toward buying this thing? Are others going to be as brave as you, or will you be the only owner for the rest of the car’s life?

PostHeaderIcon PSA Has Picked 15 States for it’s U.S.-Market Comeback Attack

After exiting the U.S. market in 1991, PSA Group is eyeing a strong comeback. Larry Dominique, CEO of PSA Group North America, revealed that the company is seriously looking to re-establish itself in the U.S. again. In fact, the company has already started setting up their corporate office in Georgia, Atlanta. Are they a tad bit late, given how the trade war is picking up heat?

PostHeaderIcon DS 3 Café Racer Limited Edition Harks Back to the 60s

Citroen’s DS brand has something special for those still lamenting the bygone glory of the good old days. The DS 3 Café Racer is a Limited Edition hatchback with design cues inspired by the 60’s movement of the same name and glam-rock style.

We won;t be surprised if the stereo in this car plays only Led Zeppelin. With only 150 being built for the UK, DS 3 Café Racer is a unique and uniquely cool car that puts a premium on style. That is not to say it has little substance. On the contrary, the car benefits from the latest technologies. This DS 3 can be had with Purtech engines in 110 S&S form with manual (£21,305) or auto gearbox (£22,825) and 130 S&S (£21,825) with manual gearbox only. It even has smartphone integration, infotainment, automatic air conditioning, reversing aids, automatic wipers and heated wing mirrors.

The styling of DS 3 Café Racer Limited Edition has been designed in collaboration with BMD Design. The chief highlights of the car include  ‘Café Racer’ exterior branding, bi-tone body colour and a luxurious interior of Trinitario Brown Nappa watchstrap leather. There are awesome color combos to choose from, including Ink Blue body colour with Parthenon Cream roof colour, Perla Nera Black body colour with Parthenon Cream roof colour, Platinum Grey body colour with Parthenon Cream roof colour, and Ruby Red body colour with Parthenon Cream roof colour. And you get 17” black diamond-cut ‘Bellone’ alloy wheels with Parthenon Cream wheel centres. The interior graphics are hand printed by BMD.

PostHeaderIcon DS 7 CROSSBACK PureTech 225 Launches in the UK

So for those who are not satisfied with the 130 and 180 models, Citroen has now launched the DS 7 CROSSBACK PureTech 225 petrol, which is the most refined version of the charming SUV. The new engine is gutsy, smooth, and also pretty clean and efficient thanks to some really clever technologies.

The four-cylinder petrol engine in the DS 7 CROSSBACK PureTech 225 features Petrol Particle Filter and optimized catalysts, as well as a  new-generation oxygen sensor for optimum combustion. As a result the 225 horsepower engine enjoys a 6 percent reduction in fuel consumption and emissions compared with the smaller 210 THP engine, emitting only 135 g/km CO2.

The unit comes with a new EAT8 (Efficient Automatic Transmission 8-speed) gearbox which features an Eco ‘Freewheeling’ mode which disengages the gearbox when the driver lifts off for speeds between 12mph and 80mph. This helps with the efficiency, along with other technological highlights such as Valvetronic and redesigned turbo system featuring electric waste gate, improved turbine and compressor yield.

The DS 7 CROSSBACK PureTech 225 joins in the UK lineup the PureTech 180 petrol and a couple of diesels, including BlueHDi 130 with a manual gearbox and the BlueHDi 180 with an automatic gearbox. It starts at £34,990 and comes in Ultra Prestige, Prestige and PERFORMANCE Line models. If you still aren’t satisfied, you need to wait for the DS6 CROSSBACK plugin hybrid which will be launched later with 300 horsepower.

PostHeaderIcon Another Reincarnation on the Cards: This time from Citroën

This year is already proving to be the year of revivals; recently, we reported the revival of the Honda Insight and the Jaguar XK, and now it’s the Citroën twins – the C4 and C5. The C4 was a successful model that ran for 14 years. The C5, on the other hand, was the larger sedan version of the C4, which also had a decent run. The good news is that both these cars are now making a comeback, according to the brand’s CEO.

PostHeaderIcon 2019 Citroen C5 Aircross Is Family SUV Par Excellence

The always quirky Citroen C5 has now spawned a new Aircross SUV version, and although it is by no means the best, or the second best, in its class, we find ourselves fancying this car more than we would the top players. The Citroen C5 Aircross is just cooler somehow, more amusing, less boring, nicer to live with.

Whether you like or abhor Citroen’s airbumps, which are the characteristic feature of the Aircross models, or their design language, there is no denying Citroen C5 Aircross stands out in a crowd. Basically, it gets you the same kind of attention a car five times its price would. But this SUV is not designed just to impress. Like all other Citroens it is also practical. It has generous space, relative to its size, and is packed with features that make the motorist’s life easier.

The main highlight of 2019 Citroen C5 Aircross is its comfort, or more precisely Advanced Comfort programme. The system consists of Progressive Hydraulic Cushions and Advanced Comfort seats, and these are enough to make this thing the most comfortable car in its class. Other notable features include reclining rear seats which expand luggage storage from 580-litres to 720-litres, a 12.3 inch TFT infotainment screen, wireless charging and Highway Driver Assist, a level-two autonomous driving system. The C5 Aircross is also the first Citroen to be launched with plug-in hybrid powertrain.

“I am very proud to present today New C5 Aircross SUV, produced in the French plant of Rennes and intended to be sold in 92 countries around the world. A next generation SUV that complements the recently renewed Citroën range and addresses the crucial SUV segment with all the identity of the brand: design, comfort, modularity. New C5 Aircross SUV is Citroën’s new flagship and a key lever for the international growth of the brand.”

PostHeaderIcon Finally, DS is set to Introduce a Flagship Model; Could be the DS 8

The PSA Group made the DS a standalone brand in 2014 to differentiate it from its family members – Peugeot and Citroen – by transforming it into a luxurious brand. We are not very sure how well that has worked, but the company feels it did. Thus, in a Different Spirit, DS has finally decided to introduce its flagship model; although it is slated for launch in 2021. Apparently, the car will take on the executive sedans in the premium segment. However, this car will not take the shape of a conventional sedan. Is DS trying to break the trend here? Let’s find out.

PostHeaderIcon DS Automobiles Announces Full Electrification from 2025

Citroen’s quirky sub-brand, DS Automobiles, is committing itself to the full electrification of their range from 2025. They shared their strategy with the public at the 2018 Paris ePrix, and are already taking major steps towards accomplishing that goal and going beyond.

It shouldn’t be hard making the transition for DS Automobiles as they have been involved with electrification for a while now. They have a thriving Formula E business going on, featuring one of the best looking racing cars in history, and next year they have coming up a rather remarkable electrified model in form of DS 7 CROSSBACK E-TENSE 4×4 with 300 horsepower and an electric range of 30 miles of pure electric range. From 2025 every single model will feature an electric system like that.

And that is besides DS Automobiles’ plans for fully electric models. At the upcoming 2018 Paris Motor Show the firm will showcase its first 100% electric DS model, a precursor to the future electric and hybrid models. The really cool thing about this whole thing is that, having seen DS’s previous works, they are going to show us electric cars can be properly beautiful and exciting to look at.

While DS Automobiles has already announced that the second generation of its models would be available in an electrified version (hybrid or electric), CEO, Yves Bonnefont, revealed that: “starting in 2025, each new DS will be launched exclusively with electrified powertrains. Our ambition is very clear: for DS to be among the global leaders in electrified cars in its segment. Our strategy is underway with the arrival of DS 7 CROSSBACK E-TENSE 4×4, fitted with a hybrid (petrol-electric) drivetrain and boasting 300hp, and is to be followed soon with the presentation of the first 100% electric DS model. See you at the Paris Motor Show!”

PostHeaderIcon DS X E-Tense – What Cars Might Look Like in 2035?

The modern Citroen may have turned into a docile creature with little trace of its former glory, but they still have the DS brand and this one still has the occasional bursts of creativity. The DS X E-Tense is a design study they have come up with as a vision of what cars might look like in the year 2035.

Granted, they haven’t succeeded to avoid the future car cliches altogether. The DS X E-Tense suffers from the sci-fi-inspired delusions that somehow cars of the future don’t need headroom or proper doors. But since this is just a flight of fancy, one would forgive those little niggles easily, especially when the work, in its entirety, looks so intriguing.

The best thing about DS X E-Tense is that it tells us there are still people inside Citroen who think radially about design and looks. It has features like a glass canopy up top and see-through electro-chromatic glass floor, which is completely pointless but wonderfully out-of-the-box, filtered, scented air conditioning, and IRIS personal assistant in form of a hologram. The DS X is conceived as an autonomous electric car with a variable output two-motor system that has 540 hp in normal mode and 1,360 hp in circuit mode.

Designed to serve as a vision of what a dream car might resemble in the Year 2035, DS X E-TENSE is the star of a film that is to be given a première airing on the five continents where DS Automobiles is most active.

Behold the quirkiest, funkiest, most interesting SUV in the market today! The new DS 7 Crossback gears up for launch in the British market where it is priced from £28,050 to £50,000. That’s a pretty wide range, and that’s because there are 10 different trims to choose from.

Whichever you go for, though, you get the special charm of DS 7 Crossback which is due in large part to its LED VISION lighting system, 3D rear lights, and the rather chunky profile. Granted, this car is nowhere near as wonderfully crazy as the old Citroens we all know and love. But compared to something like the Audi Q5, this thing is still a freakin’ wonderland.

There is DS Inspiration Bastille featuring textured patterns and padded upholstery, and subtle finishes with warm gold and silver accents, DS Inspiration Rivoli boasting combined with high-end diamond-shaped decoration, DS Inspiration Opéra with nappa leather in basalt black or chestnut brown and DS Inspiration PERFORMANCE LINE with Alcantara trimming.

PostHeaderIcon 2018 Citroen C3 Elle Special Edition Has Cherry Pink Accents

Ladies, if you want to stand out this season with a car whose color accents match that of your lip gloss, we have good news. The new Citroen C3 Elle Special Edition is a new iteration of the French hatchback created in collaboration with ELLE fashion magazine, and it is as thoroughly feminine as a pussy hat.

Priced from £15,595 OTR, the 2018 Citroen C3 Elle Special Edition comes with a Polar White body complemented with Soft Sand two-tone roof as standard, Gloss Black door mirrors and original accents in cherry pink on the fog light surrounds, Airbump and rear quarter-light graphic. Of course, you also get ELLE badges on the outside, because what is the point of rocking a cool brand if you cannot boasts about it. The pink continues inside on stitching of the grey seat upholstery and on the dashboard surround.

As for the equipment, the list includes ConnectedCAM Citroën, Citroën Connect Nav, Citroën Connect Box with Emergency & Assistance system, Active Safety Brake, Driver Attention Alert, Collision Risk Alert and Intelligent Beam Headlights. What that means is, you are at all times kept entertained and protected against potential accients. So go ahead and apply that make up as you drive along. Chances are you will get away with it.

Engine-wise, not that any woman has eve cared about what sort of engine she has in her car, Citroen C3 Elle can be had with either PureTech 82 or PureTech 110 S&S. We can tell you that you should go for the latter, because it’s smoother, has start/stop which reduces fuel consumption, and comes with a comfy six speed automatic gearbox.

PostHeaderIcon 2018 Citroen C4 Cactus Gears Up for UK Launch

The fans of funky little cars all over Britain rejoice as the new 2018 Citroen C4 Cactus becomes available to order today! The quirky French hatchback won’t reach the showrooms until April, but you can secure yours right now from just £17,265.

Based on Citroen Advanced Comfort programme with comfort seats and Progressive Hydraulic cushions, the 2018 Citroen C4 Cactus is probably the most comfortable and relaxing car in its class. That is a highly desirable quality if you predominantly use it in busy city centers. The B-road travelers may find that the safe comfort results in less than savory handling around the corners. Not that the Cactus is fast enough to get you in trouble around corners. The engine lineup includes three 3-cylinder PureTech petrol engines and a highly efficient BlueHDi 100 S&S diesel unit.

While tamer than its predecessor, the 2018 Citroen C4 Cactus still has a kind of niche design that does not appeal to everybody. But if you get past that, you will be rewarded with an amazing array of technology features. The new Cactus can be specified with Active Safety Brake, Grip Control and Lane Departure Warning as well as Citroen Connect Nav, Citroeën Connect Box with the brand’s Emergency & Assistance system and Mirror Screen functionality. There is also Front Fog Lights with Cornering Function, Blind Spot Monitoring System, Coffee Break Alert, Speed Limit Recognition and Recommendation, and…

PostHeaderIcon Citroen C3 R5 Gears Up for First Public Outing

Things are looking for World Rally Championship (WRC) season 2018 judging by the cars set to compete in it. We saw the first shot of the new Polo WRC a few days ago, and now in a few days we will get to see this bad boy in action, the new Citroen C3 R5. It looks pretty good. Pretty, pretty, pretty good!

Set to replace last season’s champion, the D3 R5, the new Citroen C3 R5 has been under constant testing since September. The team has put the new rally car through a battery of tough evaluations on tarmac and gravel. The test drivers Stéphane Lefebvre, Craig Breen and Yoann Bonato have already racked up over 4,000km in testing in the C3, giving it a big thumbs up after every session. Now the car is all set forits first public appearance during the Rallye du Var, the final round of the French Championship, on 23-26 November.

Citroen C3 R5 will be one of the ‘zero’ cars at the event, meaning it has a number ‘0’ on its door which indicates it is not racing competitively. It would be a good laugh if the non-FIA homologous car actually win the rally. It would make this guy, who’s not yet left the womb, pretty worried:

The VW Polo R5 GTI is shaping up to be a serious WRC contender, already trash talking the competition with its big numbers and swollen arches. What’s more important, perhaps, than who wins the races is how these rally cars will affect the market of the road-going models they are based on. Looks-wise, we have to say we’d rather have the hot hatch fruit of the C3’s loins. But performance-wise, I don’t know, it’s hard to ignore how good that Polo GTI is.

PostHeaderIcon 2018 Citroen C4 Cactus Is an Ultra-Comfortable Hatchback

That is what Citroen calls the latest version of its quirky C4 Cactus. The hatchback has received a major overhaul for the new year, including high-tech suspension and revised styling details. Rest assured, the 2018 Citroen C4 Cactus is going to stand out in its segment like the Chinese kid in the Jolie-Pitt family.

The suspension system which the French auto maker claims makes 2018 Citroen C4 Cactus the most comfortable car in its class is a Progressive Hydraulic Cushion affair with secondary hydraulic dampers. They deliver a sort of ‘magic carpet ride’ which isn’t perfect, at least it wasn’t on the previous versions of the car, but is considerably better than the standards of the hatchback class. And that’s on its own is enough reason to consider the Cactus. A nice and smooth ride is something car makers don’t really care about with their smaller models.

But PHC is not the only comfort feature of 2018 Citroen C4 Cactus. The hatchback comes with new, thicker foam for the seats which are ideal for longer drives. One fears one might fall sleep behind the wheel of the Cactus, what with these seats and that suspension. Visually, the new model does away with prominent Airbumps – thank heavens for that – and instead introduces a couple of discreet ones on the side sills. So you still get the rugged look and the protection, but your car doesn’t look like it has a tropical disease. Another highlights of the 2018 Cactus C4 is the addition of a 128 bhp three-cyinder PureTech with peppy performance.

PostHeaderIcon DS E-Tense Makes UK Debut Inside Shopping Center

In what can be described as an all-in-one publicity package, Citroen’s sub-brand DS took over a shopping center in Westfield, London. The The venue was DS Urban Store, the reason was to let the DS E-Tense concept to roam free, and the man driving the concept was DS Virgin Racing driver Sam Bird.

And just to milk the occasion fully, they also brought out the DS7 Crossback SUV for a guest appearance. It all made for a spectacular clip in which Sam Bird went joyriding inside the shopping center in the spectacularly stunning high-performance electric GT, the DS E-Tense. To be fair though, he could have driven the E-Tense inside the center during the day since it’s a silent, zero-emission EV. But then again, the silent operation would probably have caused problem with the shoppers it would inevitably run over!

The magnificent DS E-Tens is powered by a 402 horsepower and 516 Nm electric motor and features cues from Citroen’s most iconic cars in its design. The EV also features an exclusive metallic green ametrine body and LED vision headlights.

Paul Buttigieg, Westfield’s Director of Operations, says: “We like to go the extra mile for our partners to help them create innovative content to drive awareness and sales. Giving a leading racing driver the green light to take a spin inside one of our centres was a real first but having built such a positive relationship with DS Automobiles over the past few years we wanted to help them create a standout moment to mark the UK debut of the DS E-TENSE.”

PostHeaderIcon Citroen SpaceTourer Rip Curl Concept – IAA 2017

Citroen’s 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show (IAA) lineup includes a cool and funky camper van. Arriving in concept form, the Citroen SpaceTourer Rip Curl apparently symbolizes “fun without limits.” What that implies is open to interpretation, but as a camper van it doesn’t seem quite as excellent as the VW California XXL.

Still, Citroen SpaceTourer Rip Curl Concept is only a fun project the French automaker has done with the sporting equipment brand. It has no immediate production value. That said, they have been quite serious about making it look so. The van features 4×4 conversion by Automobiles Dangel and boasts a full motorhome environment thanks to special interior and exterior appointments. The goal here has been to offer an all-in-one package to outdoor adventure seekers. So the SpaceTourer is spacious and robust, easy to use and practical. And yes, it does have a pop-up roof. But like we said it ain’t non XXL.

Citroen SpaceTourer Rip Curl will be travelling across Europe with the Rip Curl team as part of the “Rip Curl Tour by Citroën” initiative, between October 2017 and January 2018. What will happen to it after that in terms of production is not clear yet. Citroen has in the past offered limited editions of their popular concepts, so seeing this thing out in the real world is not entirely out of the question yet.

One look at the current automotive landscape is all you need to see the incredible popularity of the crossover and SUV bodystyle. Not only is the high-riding, off-roader-esque style widespread in the U.S, but it’s gaining steam overseas as well. Taking advantage of the upwards trend is French automaker Citroen, which is reinvigorating its C3 nameplate with a new, next-gen crossover dubbed the C3 Aircross. Packing loads of customization options, a host of modern interior technology, and a wide selection of efficient gas and diesel powerplants, the C3 hopes to bring Citroen that sweet jacked-up hatchback success in a variety of markets across the world (minus the States, of course).

Framed as a “people-minded” crossover “inspired by customer expectations,” the new C3 Aircross follows in the footsteps of the Citroen C3 Aircross Concept revealed in April at the Shanghai Auto Show, while also drawing inspiration from the C-Aircross concept that dropped at the Geneva Motor Show. Now, following an official debut at the Paris Motor Show, we have a ton of info on the new production-ready Citroen C3 Aircross. Read on for all the details.
