PostHeaderIcon Meet the Bugatti Divo – The Chiron’s Angry Cousin

Buggati has finally revealed the Divo and, as it turns out, it’s basically the Chiron with an attitude problem and an insatiable love for throwing temper tantrums around corners. Seriously – Bugatti took the Chiron, gave it a meaner face, muscular front hood, corner-mounted headlights, and more aggressive side skirts. However, to make room for those side skirts, Bugatti engineers had to reword the side-mounted intakes, which are now smaller than before but have more definition than ever. To compensate for the smaller intakes, the roof has been formed to create a NACA air duct to help keep things cool under the engine’s hood. It’s not all about looks, though is it?

PostHeaderIcon Leaked Document: Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 Will Have 710HP; Weigh 4,200 Lbs

A leaked product sheet for the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 reveals that the mighty muscle car will have a whopping output of 720 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque. In addition to the uptick in power, the product sheet also shows that the Shelby GT500 will 4,225 pounds, almost 300 hundred pounds heavier than its predecessor. The document looks skeptical, so even with these headline-grabbing numbers, it’s hard to trust what it says without any word from Ford itself.

PostHeaderIcon The 2019 BMW Z4 First Edition Breaks Cover at Pebble Beach

The 2019 BMW Z4 M440i First Edition has made its glorious debut at Pebble Beach, ushering in the sixth-gen of BMW Z cars. It comes with concept-based styling, a plush interior, and a 340-horsepower inline-six that BMW says can walk to 62 mph in 4.6 seconds. That makes it a couple of seconds quicker than the model it replaces, but it has all the right design principles to make it a true, German-bred, driver’s car. Keep reading for the finer details.

PostHeaderIcon Monterey Car Week Day 1 – Gallery

TopSpeed is at Monterey Car Week 2018, and we’ve already stumbled across so many cool cars that we couldn’t help but share them with you. For the first day of Monterey Car Week, we spent some time checking out the area and visiting the Gordon McCall’s Motorworks Revival. To finish out the day, we cruised on over to the Monterey Jet Center but not before we stumbled across none other than the McLaren Senna and a bunch of other really cool cars. We even managed to snag a video of a really cool Ferrari racer, and we were lucky enough to catch the startup of a dragster in all its glory. Check out the videos and more than 200 images below!

PostHeaderIcon Lotus Celebrates 70th Anniversary in Typical Lotus Fashion

Lotus is turning 70 years old today, and like anybody who reaches that ripe age, the British automaker celebrated it by creating a not-so-subtle “70th tribute logo” using burnt rubber from two of the company’s most popular models: the Exige and Evora 410 Sport. The tire-burning/logo-creating session took place on the skid pad of Lotus’ test track in Hethel, England. No CGIs were used in the making of the video, though Lotus did cop to using more tires than it probably wanted to.

PostHeaderIcon Bugatti Teases the Divo and It Doesn’t Look Like a Chiron

Back in July 2018, Bugatti announced it’s about to launch a “strictly limited model” called the Divo and released a few teaser shots. Naturally, we thought that it would be a special-edition version of the Chiron, but the latest teaser confirms that it’s more than that.

PostHeaderIcon Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4

Although critics initially derided the Gallardo as a copout for the Italian automaker, offering two fewer cylinders and a smaller on-road presence than the rest of the lineup, the “baby Lambo” quickly silenced the naysayers by selling well over 7,000 units in its first five years of production. Its performance was so impressive, the higher-ups from Sant’Agata Bolognese decided to usher in a new go-faster version for 2008, upgrading the Gallardo with fresh aesthetics and improved performance. The result was dubbed the LP560-4, and once again, customers flocked to dealers, catapulting the nameplate to the top of Lambo’s list of all-time bestsellers.

PostHeaderIcon Eight Reasons You Should Drive a Hot Hatch

SUVs are rad, sedans are dying out, coupe-like saloons look cool, and hot hatches seem to be on drugs. Hot hatches being on drugs isn’t the first reason I listed to make you buy them, but writing about it, I think it might as well be. See, the hatchback layout may be the perfect one for creating a car. Its sheer shape offers safety and practicality. Plus, hot hatches aren’t expensive to produce or expensive to buy. I managed to come up with eight reasons why your next car should be a hot hatch.

PostHeaderIcon What Do We Know About The New Alfa Romeo 8C?

It would seem that the most important goals for any manufacturer today are continuity and clarity. If you do cheap cars, do only them. If you do sports cars, focus only on them. If you are premium, adapt to what the people think is premium and push.

Alfa Romeo had a problem with its mission, vision, and continuity. Since the Eighties, it seems to have shifted its vision two or three times basically confusing buyers when it comes to what the brand truly represents. Now, it is eager to find its footing with what it should have done all along – sports character, upscale styling, and premium nature.

At a press conference held earlier this year Tim Kuniskis, Global Head of Maserati and Alfa Romeo said: “We know our future depends on staying true to our sports car roots. We have learned that when we stay true to Alfa DNA, we can stand out in any segment.”

Thankfully, the brand seems to have found what it wants to be the best at. To communicate this noble vision to the automotive lunatics and solidify brand recognition, Alfa Romeo has to do some extraordinary things. Having the Giulia Quadrifoglio and the Stelvio Quadrifoglio was only a start. Now, the company needs to go further, and that further comes in the shape of the 8C.

Recently, the late Sergio Marchionne hinted at the new 8C only months before his death. Moreover, the plan FCA displayed in June clearly showcases a planned super sports car called the 8C, and it will appear in the next three or four years.

PostHeaderIcon Ford Will Debut a New Mustang Cobra Jet at the Woodward Dream Cruse on Thursday!

Ford is all set to reveal an all-new model at the Woodward Dream Cruise this weekend, and by all accounts, that “all-new” model is going to be a Ford Mustang Cobra Jet. The revelation comes to us by way of Ford Performance Global Director Mark Rushbrook, who flat out told Autoweek that the mysterious production model that will be unveiled at the Woodward event is, in fact, the Mustang Cobra Jet. The debut is expected to take place at the Ford Media Club House on August 16, 10 A.M. Eastern time.

PostHeaderIcon McLaren 720S Track Theme

McLaren’s MSO division is responsible for some of the most mouth-watering creations we’ve seen in recent memory, and it looks like MSO isn’t done, judging, at least, by a pair of new special-edition models, one of which is called the 720S Track Theme. In keeping with MSO’s tradition of going all-out with its projects, the 720S Track Theme gets a smorgasbord of new features and options, all of which have been added to add an extra touch of exclusivity on what is already an exclusive supercar.

PostHeaderIcon What’s in a Name? The Origin of the “Countach” Name Comes To Light

Lamborghini is known for naming its cars after famous bulls in history. The Miura, for example, is named after a Spanish fighting bull that was bred from the Miura Cattle Ranch Feruccio Lamborghini’s friend, Don Eduardo Miura. There’s also the Islero, which was named after a specific Miura bull that killed matador Manolete back in 1947. Then there’s the Murcielago, which is, quite arguably, the most famous bull in history, thanks in part to the myth that has grown from it surviving 28 sword strokes in a bullfight that took place all the way back in 1897. Of all the Lamborghinis that have made hit the road, only a handful carried names that weren’t connected to bulls. One of those models is the Lamborghini Countach, regarded as the first Lamborghini to break free from the automaker’s bull-naming tradition. So if the Countach’s name isn’t related to bulls or bullfighting, how did Lamborghini come up with the name? Well, we now have the answer, one brought to us by no less than the head of the Countach’s design team, Marcello Gandini.

PostHeaderIcon Milan Red

Every once in a while a new hypercar automotive company emerges claiming it can make a car as good as if not better than the Chiron. Case in point – W Motors, who actually managed to get under the spotlight with the Lykan and the Fenyr. Now, we have a new attendant that is the first one from Austria and one that claims it will be in the same ballpark as Koenigsegg, Bugatti, or even Pagani – Milan Automotive with a car called the Milan Red.

The Milan Red is a no-nonsense (well, a bit of nonsense, just keep reading) hypercar powered by an ICE without any electric assistance. It is still in the development phase (of course,) but if you are really into the world of cars, you might remember this design from some time ago. Zooming through Milan Automotive Facebook page (quite revealing, might I add) I saw that its CEO, Markus Fux, actually was on a business trip visiting someone in Russia who designed a Lada.

Well, why?

The guy is Dmitry Lazarev, and he was responsible for designing the quite stunning Lada Raven Concept. It was a one-off design he actually pitched to AutoVAZ (Lada producer in Russia), but AutoVAZ declined to claim that they aren’t into cars without trunks. Honest to God, their response was along those lines.

Nevertheless, Fux and Lazarev came to an agreement. What once was the Lada Raven, will become the Milan Red. Interestingly enough, the new name Raven is of a passerine bird. The Milan Red, on the other hand, is a word play on the red kite bird of prey, which in German, translates as the Rotmilan. Cool name! And Milan Automotive didn’t just envision a name like that but formed the entire brand around it. The plaque is a nice abstract design inspired by the Rotmilan flying. Some other aspects of the car evoke a certain bird of prey qualities obviously infusing unique character into the Milan Red.

PostHeaderIcon Video: Petrolicious Gets Up Close and Personal With a ’66 Ford GT40

This year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans may have come and gone (congrats, Toyota!), but truth be told, we’re still feeling a but wistful for that epic and legendary endurance event. So when we came across this high-quality profile video on a 1966 Ford GT40, courtesy of our friends over at Petrolicious, we just knew we had to feature it.

In typical Petrolicious fashion, the video includes gorgeous shots of the car, both sitting and in motion, with a healthy dollop of informative and entertaining narration laid on top. All good stuff, but the car – man, this thing is a real treat. Not only is it a beautiful thing to behold, looking pretty much perfect from every angle, but the sound of the big block 427 V-8 doing its thing will send electricity up and down your spine.

Owner Ted Baird assembled his GT40 to be as faithful to the original as possible, implementing as many original parts as he could find to create something that was not only visually representative of the machines that took top honors at Le Mans, but mechanically representative as well. It’s not a replica – it’s an official GT40P Mk. II, just not one of the original vehicles.

All told, the car is stunning, and hearing Baird unleash it on the track will get you amped. “This is pure, on-hands, manual, throw-it-around race car.” Baird explains. “But, that’s part of the challenge. If you can race something like this, you should be able to race anything.”

PostHeaderIcon Don’t Bother Flipping the Mercedes-AMG Project One If You Don’t Want Merc Getting Mad At You

Mercedes-AMG’s promise to keep sales of the Project One hypercar exclusive is taking shape after reports that prospective buyers will have to sign contracts that include clauses preventing them from flipping their vehicles in the second-hand market immediately. Apparently, Mercedes-AMG is making it crystal clear to people with build slots for the Project One that the practice of flipping won’t be tolerated. It’s a move that other automakers have done in recent years, including Aston Martin and Ford, both of whom included similar clauses to customers of the Valkyrie and GT, respectively.

PostHeaderIcon Wallpaper of the Day: 2007 Maserati GranTurismo

Designed by Pininfarina, the Maserati GranTurismo is one gorgeous looking car, even if it has been on the market for a decade now. It has a timeless design, though, and while it may be time for it to be replaced, the car will remain relevant for years to come, eventually becoming a collectible. After all, it was the first grand tourer that was developed under Ferrari ownership. It’s powered by a Ferrari-designed 4.7-liter V-8 that’s good for some 454 horsepower and 384 pound-feet of torque. Channeled through a ZF, six-speed automatic, it’s good enough to get the GT up to 60mph in 4.6 seconds on the way to a top speed of 185 mph. Given the fact that its time is drawing short on the market, we decided to honor it a bit and make it our wallpaper of the day. We’ve picked our favorite and thrown in a gallery so you can do the same. Enjoy!

PostHeaderIcon All Changes Contrived by Renault Sport To Brew The Hardcore Megane RS Trophy

I can only infer that the importance of hot hatches in Europe is on par with the importance of muscle cars in the U.S. They are a must-have for every company that wants to do any business there. Renault and its division – Renault Sport – always did a really good job in this department with the overachieving Clio RS and Megane RS cars. Today, a new one emerged. Following the habits of the past, Renault Sport revealed the new Megane RS Trophy. It’s a car based on the regular RS but bathed with small tweaks to make it ever so faster, hardcore, and slightly meaner. It is a track weapon that tackles the monstrosity of the Honda Civic Type R, or the sophisticated gem the Volkswagen Golf GTI Clubsport is. I will go even further and give Hyundai the courtesy of joining this exclusive group with its stunning Hyundai i30 N. I am fairly certain that the Megane RS and the Megane RS Trophy are fighting for supremacy with it too.

This is the most powerful production car Renault Sport has unveiled up to this point. The RS 1.8-liter turbocharged engine has been tuned with F1 tech and is now producing 296 horsepower. This is not the end of it as I suspect the Megane RS Trophy-R will come sometime in the future.

PostHeaderIcon The first McLaren Senna shipped to the U.S. Is drop dead gorgeous

Unveiled more than six months ago, the radical McLaren Senna is finally meeting its first customers. The British firm just shipped its first U.S.-spec example, which landed with Michael Fux, an entrepreneur, philanthropist and renowned car collector from New York City. An owner of three other McLaren sports cars, Fux ordered a heavily customized Senna that sports a bespoke color that bears his own name. Pretty fancy, huh?

PostHeaderIcon Wallpaper of the Day: 2019 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye

The modern-day Dodge Demon is officially out of production, but in its place comes the Challenger Hellcat Redeye – a model that essentially bridges the gap between the range-topping hellcat and the late Demon. It’s powered by the same 6.2-liter V-8, but it’s been tuned to deliver 797 horsepower at 6,300 rpm. Torque figures carry over from the standard Hellcat at 707 pound-feet, but the Redeye benefits from lots of Demon gear, including things like line-lock and launch control. Sure, we would have been happier if Dodge introduced a second-gen Challenger for 2019 but this is at least one way to keep things fresh, right? Either way, we decided to make the Hellcat Redeye our wallpaper of the day and give it a little desktop love. Want to join in? We’ve got some pretty sweet wallpapers waiting for you below!

PostHeaderIcon Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye

Introduced for the 2015 model year, the Challenger Hellcat stunned the muscle car market through its powerful engine and impressive performance. Dodge took things to a new level with the Demon in 2017, when it introduced a series of segment-first features. Come 2018, and FCA launched a new model that bridges the gap between the impressive Hellcat and the absolutely evil Demon. Meet the Hellcat Redeye!

While not as menacing as the Demon performance-wise, the Redeye borrows numerous drivetrain features from the drag-prepped coupe. It’s also significantly more powerful than the regular Hellcat and obviously faster. What’s the purpose of this car with the Hellcat already more powerful than the competition? Well, the Challenger is pretty long in the tooth and Dodge is probably trying to keep things interesting before the next-generation muscle car arrives. Let’s find out what makes the Hellcat Redeye special in the review below.
