PostHeaderIcon Nissan Rogue Sport

When seen from a bird’s eye view, Nissan is actually managing its crossover portfolio quite well. At the entry-level, the Japanese automaker has the Kicks and, at the top, it has the Nissan Rogue. Nissan had the Juke to fill the gap in between, but the model was discontinued a couple of years back. Although it looked like the Kicks will have to manage two duties, Nissan quickly came up with a much better replacement for the Juke in the form of the Nissan Rogue Sport. The Rogue Sport was specially designed for the U.S. market and is not being sold anywhere else.

PostHeaderIcon 1320 Video Features the 3,000-Horsepower ETS-G Nissan GT-R: Video

If you want to make ludicrous power and demolish the quarter mile with a modern import, the Nissan GT-R makes for a pretty solid foundation. Ever since it was first revealed back in 2007, tuners have been busy turning wrenches and coaxing ever-higher output levels from the GT-R’s venerable twin-turbo V-6, and these days, it’s evidenced by bigger and bigger dyno pulls, and smaller and smaller ETs.

One of the biggest stars in constellation GT-R is Gidi Chamdi, who is regularly seen behind the wheel of some of the most extreme GT-R’s on the planet. 1320 Video managed to catch up with Gidi recently at the GT-R World Cup at Bradenton Motorsports Park in Bradenton, Florida, where he was once again assuming the role of pilot in the latest ETS-tuned GT-R. Sporting an all-new build, this mad machine puts down an astonishing 3,000 horsepower. The goal? Nothing less than a shot at the GT-R drag racing world record. Hit play to watch what happens when all that power is unleashed down the drag strip.

PostHeaderIcon Nissan Titan Rocky Ridge Concept

At the Nissan USA stand at the Chicago Motor Show we had the chance to see a rather surprising and intimidating truck called the Nissan Titan K2 Rocky Ridge Concept. It is a lifted Titan truck, engineered by Rocky Ridge, specialists in “making big bad lifted trucks” with more than 30 years of experience. Although revealed in concept guise, let me tell you that the Rocky Ridge Titan K2 is ready to pounce. The Georgia-based truck magicians made sure of it with a comprehensive set of additions that made this Titan K2 Rocky Ridge Concept as tough and as terrifying as possible. This is what we learned about it at the Show.

PostHeaderIcon Nissan Pathfinder Rock Creek Edition

The Rock Creek Edition is a special-edition version of the Nissan Pathfinder that includes new accessories and a few extra features at no additional cost. Introduced at the 2019 Chicago Auto Show, it freshens up the somewhat dated fourth-generation Pathfinder, which was launched in 2012 and went through a mid-cycle upgrade for the 2017 model year. Offered on SV and SL grades (no soup for you if you want the base model or the range-topping Platinum trim), it costs only $995. Nissan says it will save you $1,315 compared to a similar vehicle with all those features ordered separately, but is it worth it? Let’s find out in the review below.

PostHeaderIcon The 2020 Nissan Rogue Sport Is Semi-Autonomous But Still Only With An N/A Engine

Apart from the Pathfinder Rock Creek Edition Package, Nissan showcased the 2020 Rogue Sport at the dawn of the 2019 Chicago Motor Show. The exceptionally successful small compact SUV has been slightly updated inside out with Nissan especially focusing on safety. Considering that Kia revealed the new Sportage at the show and gifted it with all kinds of safety gear, I can only say that the compact crossover segment is really evolving. All new cars from the segment are exceptionally well endowed with all kind of safety gear. With a bit of markup though, the new 2020 Nissan Rogue Sport easily surpasses the rest. You can have the small and fairly cheap 2020 Nissan Rogue Sport with a freaking ProPILOT Assist system (a semi-autonomous driving system). True, the tech was available on the European Qashqai (the Rogue Sport for the Old Continent) before, and for the U.S. in the Rogue. Nevertheless, with it in the Rogue Sport, I am rather confident that the tech will be scaled down to basically all Nissan cars.

PostHeaderIcon Nissan Adds Off-Road Looks To The Pathfinder with the Rock Creek Edition Package

The current-generation Nissan Pathfinder is six years old, but without an all-new model on the way, Nissan has taken to rolling out special edition packages to keep its SUV as fresh as a daisy. The new package, called the Rock Creek Edition, provides an off-road look to the to three-row crossover to go along with a handful of useful equipment that you can use in the outdoors. The Nissan Pathfinder will be on display at the 2019 Chicago Auto Show. Available to the mid-tier SV and SL trims of the Pathfinder, pricing for the special edition SUV starts at $35,265 for the SL trim and $38,915 for the higher-spec SL trim. The Rock Creek Package itself costs just $995.

PostHeaderIcon After 15 Years We Just Might See and a New Nissan Frontier on the U.S. Market

Sometimes it’s baffling to see automakers ignore cars in its line up that need a little care and attention to become the cash cows. The Frontier is a classic example of that. Midsize trucks sell well on the market today, but Nissan has been lousy with development for the Frontier. However, things might change soon as a new Frontier may hit the roads very soon.

PostHeaderIcon What is Nissan Trying to Tease in this Weird Video for the Detroit Auto Show?

The 2019 Detroit Auto Show, the final show to be held in January before the NAIAS moves to warmer months, is shaping up to be rather thin in comparison to years before. I just recently looked up the floor plan for the Cobo Center this year, and it appears as if the auto show will only consume three halls instead of all four as it has done in recent years. We’re missing a number of big attendees including makes like Porsche, Mercedes, and BMW, among others. Even the number of booths dedicated to aftermarket parts and suppliers has dropped considerably.

Be that as it may, there’s still going to be some pretty interesting stuff going on at this year’s show. I’m talking about more than just the Kia Telluride Torque Track. I’m talking about debuts of the 2020 Ford Shelby GT500 and the 2020 Toyota Supra. Those are the two big headliners, however, there are a few other concepts coming, and one of the most mysterious is a Nissan concept that was recently teased.

In the video below, you’ll see a weird animation put together by Nissan. We suspect that it’s a hint at the production process, which could be, among other things, comprised of 3D printing. We know it’s a “future mobility” type of concept so it’ll probably be something a little off the wall, anyway. Well, why don’t you go ahead and watch the video for yourself and let us know what you think.

PostHeaderIcon The 2019 Nissan Leaf e+ is Here to Fix the Wrongs of all Leafs that Came Before It

The Nissan Leaf set quite a few benchmarks since its introduction in 2010, but its poor mileage prevented it from becoming a really big hit. The second-gen model arrived with notably more miles per charge, but the Leaf remained inferior to most of its rivals. Come 2019, and the Leaf e+ broke cover at the Consumer Electronics Show with a bigger battery and improved range.

PostHeaderIcon Virtual Reality Is the Latest Automotive Craze @ CES 2019

On the face of it, you would probably think that virtual reality should be the last thing integrated into a car. After all, driving is a very physical experience with all-too-real joys and dangers. There is nothing virtual about it. That is true, but car makers have developed a taste for virtual reality lately, and they are putting it to some interesting uses in their latest concepts.

This phenomenon can be seen most clearly at this year’s CES show in Las Vegas. As you know, the Consumer Electronics Show is the Mecca for everything techie and gadgety, and anything that pops in this event will soon be turned into a product with real-life applications. So the automotive-related virtual reality technologies we’re going to tell you about could very soon appear on the options list. There are two VR systems unveiled so far at CES 2019 which have caught our eyes, one is the Invisible-to-Visible by Nissan, and the other a special version of the Audi e-tron which can turn every journey into a psychedelic trip!

Nissan’s Virtual Reality tech is called Invisible-to-Visible and it has fairly remarkable advantages as far driving safety is concerned. It is a new extension to the whole concept of connected car which enables the driver to see the invisible, as it were, by merging the real and virtual worlds. Metaverse is word Nissan has invented for this system, in which reality is essentially mixed. There is the part that you perceive with your senses, and then there is the ‘concealed’ parts recognized by the omni-sense radars and sensors and cameras and AI software. It’s obvious what this is, isn’t it? It is the beginning of humans gaining superpowers. It is enhancing your natural senses through the use of machine and computer. It is the first step in turning humans into cyborgs.

What Audi has to present at CES 2019 is a bit less serious and a lot ore fun. The Audi e-tron virtual reality concept focuses on the rear passengers and how to make the journey more tolerable for them. According to Audi, it’s a technology that adapts virtual content of your choice to the movements of the car in real time. The way it works is actually simple in principle. You are in the back of the family e-tron and find the route your dad is taking particularly boring. So you just pop on a set of VR glasses and boom, you are in a completely different world. It changes the roads, people, and everything else in it, and the cool thing is you can choose the scene and theme and everything. I think you have already guessed where this is headed. How long before men use it for porn?

These virtual reality stuff are cool when they are focused on fun and games, and potentially life-saving when they are employed in the service of safety. But the fact remains they make us ever-more dependent on technology and gadgets and devices, robbing us of the sharpness of mind that relying on our our senses can get us. Is that good? Is that bad? Only time will tell.

PostHeaderIcon Check Out This Awesome Nissan GT-R Key Fob

We have seen smart keys with most of the uber cool cars in the market today. Although the keys look fancy and come with certain ‘wow’ features, this particular key fob has blown our minds. This Nissan GT-R has the most sophisticated key we have ever seen on a car. Although the design and shape of the key has been carried over, it comes with a host of other features.

PostHeaderIcon 10 Years Ago: Bentley, Nissan, Ford, and Rolls-Royce Pimped Santa’s Ride

Car Magazine has got the right idea for a little holiday spirit. It asked designers in the U.K. from Bentley, Nissan, Ford and Rolls-Royce to pimp Santa’s ride. Each designer took elements from the brands current car design philosophy but came up with some very different results: everything from a futuristic Nissan GT-R based rocket sled to a gothic classic from Rolls-Royce.

No matter if the engine is measured in horsepower or reindeerpower, speed is the theme in all of these designs. So we have no trouble liking all of them.

PostHeaderIcon Nissan GT-R Naomi Osaka Edition

Despite its age, the Nissan GT-R is still an absolute monster of a performance machine. That said, Godzilla does occasionally get outshined by the newer competition, and in response, Nissan offers a variety of special edition models. The latest is the Naomi Osaka Edition, which celebrates professional tennis player and US Open champion Naomi Osaka with a number of color combinations both outside and in the cabin.

PostHeaderIcon Nissan to Produce the 720 PS GT-R50 by Italdesign

If you were looking for conclusive proof that there is a new order in the automotive world, here it is. It started with Korean car makers stealing the game from the Americans and the Europeans. But when Nissan announces the production of a limited-run super exotica, you know things have moved on. Who do Nissan think they are? Ferrari?!

Apparently so. The GT-R50 by Italdesign is Nissan’s ticket into the world of bespoke, highly-customized supercars. It’s like we are having a new era of coachbuilding in the car industry, only it is now available to a wider range of people. Make no mistake, though. This custom GT-R will be produced in strictly limited numbers of just 50 copies. And yes, the price will be so high, you will have to do some serious online betting to afford it.Yep, it’ll cost an eye-watering 990,000 euros before taxes and options!

But if you are a GT-R fan, that’ll probably be worth it. I mean, yes, the car is still very much a Nissan. And yes, it is based on a nearly 12-year old car. But the Italian touch means the GT-R50 by Italdesign is every bit as fabulous to look at as any high-end Euro exotic. You know what it’s like? The Italdesign GT-R is like a mixed race baby if the father was a Scandinavian honk and the mother the prettiest Geisha girl you ever saw.

What Italdesign has done here is more than a mere facelift. They have basically come up with a new body for the car. That is probably why Nissan has the nerve to ask for near as makes no difference a million euros for this thing. Well, that, and the fact that they have also done some serious mechanical work on it. This car features a NISMO-tuned 720 PS engine, so when we say it’s a super car, we mean it. Pair that power with the GT-R’s innate performance characteristic, and you realize this bad boy is a proper speed monster.

Despite all of that, we personally feel that a million euros is too much for something with a Nissan badge. What’s more, if you really fancy this car you can probably get a second-hand GT-R for about 20 or 30 grand and spend another 10 on a custom aftermarket kit that looks just like the one on this car. Basically, what you are paying for here is that brand, Italdesign. Now, if would have been alright if everybody recognized it at first glance. But you have to explain it. You have to tell people no, it really is an Italian design. And yes, it really has cost a million euros. And how uncool is that?

PostHeaderIcon Here’s the Nissan GT-R50 by Italdesign In Production Form

When Nissan and Italdesign joined forces to create the GT-R50 prototype earlier this year, the final product elevated Godzilla from functional to fantastic, bestowing undeniable beauty onto a platform usually regarded for its prowess, rather than its aesthetic. Now, Nissan has revealed a final limited-run production version, and its still got the goods to drop jaws.

PostHeaderIcon Nissan LEAF NISMO RC

The new Nissan Leaf Nismo RC is as much a race car as it is a PR stunt. Yes, it builds on the experience Nissan gained by developing the first race-going Leaf only it doesn’t actually go racing anywhere. Nissan says six will be built and, with 327 horsepower and 472 pound-feet of torque on tap, it’s quite a beast but it’s not homologated for any series, and it will never be, so what is really the point?

The Nissan Leaf is without a shadow of a doubt the most successful EV car on the market today. Since its introduction in 2010, nearly 400,000 units have been sold worldwide and, as of October 2018, the U.S. is the Leaf’s biggest fan, buying over 126,000 examples in the first ten months of this year. It’s natural, then, to see Nissan partner with Nismo and create a new racing rendition of this eco-friendly compact car.

The first Leaf Nismo RC, that was unveiled back in 2011, looked like a big lump of fat. It was round in all areas and was about as aggressive as a pufferfish. With technology still in its infancy, the output wasn’t ground-shaking either: a little over 100 horsepower and about 200 pound-feet of torque. But it taught Nissan some important lessons about EVs and, so, we’ve expected a lot more from this new car, and we’ve got a whole lot more. There will also be more than one built but there’s still an issue: Nissan won’t enter the Leaf Nismo RC in any racing series since it doesn’t comply to any set of regulations in the world. It’s a test mule, which is a bit sad.

PostHeaderIcon Why Can’t the 2019 Nissan Leaf Look Like This Leaf Nismo RC?

In 2011, Nissan unveiled what was called the Nissan Leaf Nismo RC – an electric racer made of carbon fiber, with a propulsion system partially borrowed from the production Nissan Leaf and with exterior touches reminiscent of the Nissan electric car. Fast forward to this day, and we’re looking at a new Nissan Leaf Nismo RC. It looks better, it is much quicker, and only eight examples will be produced.

While some of the tech inside is clearly amazing, one has to wonder, why can’t the 2019 Nissan Leaf Look like this Leaf Nismo RC?

PostHeaderIcon Nissan Gives the 2019 Nissan Murano a Wider Grille; Calls it a New Car

Nissan brought a refreshed 2019 Murano to the 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show. While the company dared to call it new, I can only say that the Murano received some superficial changes to get in line with the latest Nissan design philosophy. Despite its exterior looks, the 2019 Nissan Murano will fulfil its task of being an awesome family hauler masterfully.

If you can recall, Nissan actually showcased a refreshed version only last year. True, changes included only modifications to the inside at the time. For this new 2019 Nissan Murano, changes are kept on the outside.

PostHeaderIcon Nissan’s Own Carlos Ghosn Accused of Misconduct, Arrested

Nissan Chairman and Renault Chairman and CEO Carlos Ghosn has been arrested by prosecutors in Japan for “significant acts of misconduct.” Nissan said Ghosn and another board member had been under investigation for months following a whistleblower report. As one of the auto industry’s most important executives, Ghosn will be “promptly removed” from his positions, according to Nissan CEO Hiroto Saikawa.

PostHeaderIcon Nissan Frontier Sentinel Concept

The São Paulo Motor Show in Brazil is always a good place to find interesting models that don’t usually make their way to the U.S. Nissan is known for having a big presence in the event, and this year’s no different. The Japanese automaker brought the Frontier Sentinel Concept — we call it the Navarra here —
to The Land of Drizzle. The Frontier Sentinel is a rescue concept truck is described as “sturdy enough to go on missions in the most extreme and remote areas.” In other words, it would make for a sweet ride in the U.S., provided Nissan makes it production-ready in the first place.
