PostHeaderIcon Renault EZ-Ultimo

The Renault EZ-Ultimo is a futuristic concept car that the French firm unveiled at the 2018 Paris Motor Show. A fully autonomous car, the EZ-Ultimo rounds out Renault’s trilogy of concept robo-vehicles designed for shared mobility. It joins the EZ-Go and the EZ-Pro, also unveiled in 2018.

Described as a “robo-vehicle for a premium mobility experience,” the EZ-Ultimo was developed for increasingly congested city traffic and to meet new urban trends in which more and more people drop personal cars in favor of shared car services. Powered by an all-electric drivetrain, the concept car is intended to be offered as a service for “a single trip, a circuit or a day booking” provided by premium travel companies and resorts. One of Renault’s most luxurious vehicles ever, the EZ-Ultimo previews a production car that might become available over the next decade.

Update 3/28/2019: We stopped by Renault’s booth at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show and got some good shots of the Renault EZ-Ultimo. Check them out in the gallery at the bottom of the page!

PostHeaderIcon The 2019 Renault Kadjar is a Car We Can’t Love or Hate

The Renault Kadjar facelift comes three years after it was launched and, while it definitely looks refreshed, it just doesn’t live up to the hype it created back when it was launched in 2015. For 2019, the Kadjar even receives Renault’s latest engine, along with some changes to the inside and outside.

PostHeaderIcon Kia Ceed GT-Line

Hot hatches are big business in Europe, but not everybody wants the stiffer ride, or the higher associated fuel bills, which is why Kia has made the Ceed GT-Line which it revealed at the Paris motor show.

PostHeaderIcon Toyota RAV4 Hybird

Toyota RAV4 has been around for almost 25 years now. It has been one of the most stable products for the Japanese giant, raking in sales numbers consistently since its launch. At a time when sedans’ sales were booming, Toyota offered customers with a car that could be taken on any terrain, had the looks of an SUV, and could be handled like a hatch. While this sounds like a success formula now, it was quite a big risk two decades back.

The automaker showcased the fifth-generation RAV4 Hybrid, at the Paris Motor Show this year. Toyota has used a new underpinning, called the TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture) platform. With increased body rigidity, The RAV4 now boasts a low center of gravity and better handling when compared to the previous iterations. As for the dimensions, the SUV is 4,600 mm long – shorter by 5 mm compared to the previous gen, but the wheelbase is 30 mm longer. This is because there is reduction of 35 mm in the bonnet and boot overhangs. It is 10 mm wider, and 10 mm shorter.

PostHeaderIcon Audi R8 LMS GT3

Audi is one of the most successful manufacturers in the highly-popular GT3 arena which attracted most of the world’s top manufacturers since the class debuted in 2006. The German manufacturer rolled out an update for its second-generation R8 LMS which promises to build on an already strong base.

PostHeaderIcon .VinFast A2.0

VinFast is a new manufacturer from Vietnam that brands itself as “the first volume automotive manufacturer” in the nation, as well as the first to ever take part in a major motoring venue such as the 2018 Paris motor show. It used the event to reveal its first two models in production trim, theLUX A2.0 sedan and the LUX SA2.0 SUV, models whose planned production is set to kick off in mid-2019 out of a brand new plant built in the north of the country.

Both vehicles are meant to evoke the beauty of their land of origin, and both vehicles are modern and pleasant to look at. But it’s the A2.0 sedan that looks like the classier design of the two, featuring a clean overall design with striking front and rear fascias and an interior that looks a lot like what Volvo is doing with its latest models.

VinFast apparently asked the local public to vote on the car’s design, and a reported 60,000 people cast their vote and choose out of a total 20 possible models designed by Italdesign Giugiaro, Pininfarina, Torino Design and Zagato. Most popular designs for the sedan and SUV were two by Italdesign Giugiaro, but they were further refined by Pininfarina with which VinFast collaborated to create the two cars that debuted in Paris.

PostHeaderIcon Kia e-Niro

After unveiling the Niro EV at the International Electric Vehicle Expo in South Korea, Kia has also revealed the European version, dubbed e-Niro, at this year’s Paris Motor Show. It comes with two battery pack options, a range of up to 301 miles (or 485 km) on one charge, and it even comes with a system called Coasting Guide Control which informs the driver of the best times to coast calculated based on a planned route.

You may also have noticed that its name sounds like the surname of Robert DeNiro and Kia has gone ahead and embraced this and featured the movie star in its TV, digital and print adverts.

PostHeaderIcon Land Rover Red Cross Discovery Emergency Response Vehicle

Behind the glitz and glamour of the 2018 Paris Motor Show, Land Rover presented a one-off Discovery that it created for the Red Cross. The model is called the Red Cross Discovery Emergency Response Vehicle, and it was developed as part of an 18-month collaboration between Land Rover’s Special Vehicles Operations (SVO) and the Austrian Red Cross. The Discovery is unlike standard Discovery models. Among other things, it features state-of-the-art communications technology that’s there to help save lives.

PostHeaderIcon Toyota Yaris GR Sport

The Toyota Yaris GR Sport is the more down-to-Earth version of the limited-run GRMN. It features some sporty styling, but much of the oomph of the GRMN is gone, akin to a sheep in wolf’s clothes.

Last year, at the Geneva Motor Show, Toyota unveiled the Yaris GRMN hot hatchback to the world. A run of only 600 units was slated for 2018 for the car that was inspired by the Yaris WRC but, confusingly, presented itself with GRMN logos all round. GRMN stands for Gazoo Racing Masters of the Nurburgring – so not really related to rallying. In any case, the 209-horsepower pocket rocket was fun to drive and powerful enough to excite.

Now, a year later, Toyota brought to the Paris Motor Show a GRMN for the masses: the Yaris GR Sport. It’s based off the hybrid Yaris, so the figures are, frankly, negligible, but you do get great economy. What is more, the car comes in the usual Gazoo Racing white with red and black inserts and black wheels. It isn’t a hot hatch, but it’s sort of a stepping stone, a ”warm hatch.”

PostHeaderIcon There Were Tons of EVs and Hybrids in Paris This Year

Hybrids and EVs were a rare breed a couple of decades ago and finding them at major auto shows was a difficult mission. But things have changed as all major automakers are making big efforts toward electrification and auto shows are packed with eco-friendly vehicles. The 2018 Paris Motor is solid proof of that, with more than ten hybrids and EVs on display.

Granted, many of them are still in concept form, but the majority of these show cars will make it into production in a couple of years, while others will inspire future products. Let’s take a closer look at the most important hybrids and EVs from this year’s Paris Motor Show.

PostHeaderIcon 2018 Paris Motor Show – Worst In Show

The 2018 Paris Motor Show presented all its gems. Now, apart from hundreds of awesome presentations, great novelties, news, and cars, I am pressed to find the five worst of the show. So, I sunk into the depths of the Internet and my mind and found cars I could maybe describe as underwhelming. Worst? Well, maybe.

Interestingly enough, my list was populated by some of the most amazing manufacturers on earth. The reasoning behind the list is a simple one. I listed here all the cars I don’t actually find worthy of a car show such as the Paris Motor Show due to the lack of real novelties or proper updates.

PostHeaderIcon Top 5 Tech Innovations Seen at the 2018 Paris Motor Show

There is plenty of new tech on display at the 2018 Paris motor show, as it is one more means for manufacturers to try to outdo one another. These motor shows are slowly turning into tech expos simply because of how many cool new gadgets are integrated into new cars – concepts go even more crazy, previewing the tech that will be available on the market in the near and not so near future.

This year’s edition of the venue was packed with electric and electrified vehicles, cool concepts, and plenty of cool tech demonstrations. Narrowing it down to the most impressive pieces of tech from Paris, we made this list of our top five picks:

PostHeaderIcon Infiniti Project Black S Concept

Like pretty much every other major automaker out there, Infiniti is signaling a strong move towards electrification in the very near future, with a particularly heavy emphasis on the tech slated for 2021 and onward. While some enthusiasts will undoubtedly cringe at the thought of yet more battery-powered vehicles plying the roads, Infiniti is proving that such a fate is anything but boring, especially when it comes infused with technology plucked from the high-speed world of Formula 1 racing. Which brings us to the latest Project Black S concept, which recently made its big debut at the 2018 Paris Motor Show. Offered as an evolution of the previous Infiniti Project Black S that dropped at the Geneva Auto Show a few years back, this latest creation is based on the utterly fantastic Q60 Red Sport 400 sports coupe, and provides both aesthetic and technical details on how Infiniti plans to implement hybrid technology to spark the interest of speed lovers everywhere.

PostHeaderIcon The Shelby Series 2 Makes its European Debut in Paris

Since most American automakers offer only a small fraction of their vehicles in Europe, it’s not surprising that the U.S.-based brands skipped the 2018 Paris Motor Show. But surprisingly enough, Shelby American came to France to showcase its latest products, including the new-old Series 2 sports car.

PostHeaderIcon Renault K-ZE

Renault is previewing its future mini electric crossover with the K-ZE concept revealed at the 2018 Paris Motor Show. Taking a closer look at the K-ZE, it becomes immediately apparent that it is, in fact, just a dressed up Kwid (which Renault already sells in emerging markets) which has had its internal combustion powertrain swapped out for a full-electric one.

The future electric crossover will look much closer to this concept, than it will to the current Kwid, although it will maintain its basic body shape. What will set it apart visually more significantly are the new, redesigned front and rear fascias, as well as various details around the exterior. It also promises to offer “class leading” range for a vehicle in its size-bracket.

PostHeaderIcon Aspark Opens Preorders for Owl EV Hypercar at Paris Motor Show

Osaka-based car manufacturer Aspark exhibited its Owl EV Hypercar at the Paris Motor Show. While the car in the City Of Light was actually only a show model without a propulsion system or even a fully sorted interior, Aspark announced that it is opening preorders for the hypercar. How much do you need to deposit? Try a cool 1 million euros ($1.15 million)! That is just the deposit, mind you. Once the car is ready for delivery by mid-2020, you will have to churn out a few more million, rounding up the price to $3.6 million. Yup, crazy!

PostHeaderIcon Bugatti Could Flip the Super Luxury SUV Market If It Green Lights an SUV

Just when you thought the super-luxury SUV market calmed down with Lamborghini, Bentley, and Rolls-Royce in the fold, Bugatti could enter the fray and turn the whole segment upside down. That’s the word that came out from no less than Bugatti’s own president, Stephan Winkelmann, at the Paris Motor Show. No confirmation has been made on the matter, but Bugatti is legitimately thinking about expanding its lineup, and an SUV reportedly has the inside track on getting greenlit if the company decides to give the Chiron hypercar a stablemate.

PostHeaderIcon Renault Shows Off Futuristic AEX Infotainment in Paris

Renault showed off at the Paris Motor Show with its new personal assistant, the Augmented Editorial Experience, or AEX, which was developed as an A.I. that would help the driver and the other occupants of the car enjoy each trip to the fullest.
