PostHeaderIcon Kia ProCeed

Kia has chosen to reimagine its next-gen ProCeed as a five-door fastback-like wagon, ditching the three-door layout of the previous model. Called a shooting brake by the company, and set to be revealed to the public next month at the Paris motor show, it is essentially a more rakish looking version of the load-lugging Ceed Sportwagon for those looking to blend practicality with making a more dramatic entrance.

This new ProCeed is slightly longer than the Sportwagon (by 5 mm) and a fair chunk shorter too (by 43 mm) and it even has a lower ground clearance too (also by 5 mm). Kia promises it’s still almost as practical as the actual wagon, though, offering only 30 liters less load volume.

Proceed will sit at the top of the Ceed lineup and Kia actually calls it “the most emotionally engaging car in the range.” It will, however, carry over all the engines found in the regular Ceed and also be offered as a sporty-looking GT Line model or warmed up GT.

PostHeaderIcon 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLE Unveiled

Mercedes-Benz just spilled the beans on its brand-new 2020 GLE, revealing specs and pics of the luxury SUV’s latest and greatest bits and pieces. Let’s begin with the exterior, where we find the GLE is now even more SUV-like than before. Complementing the new look is a host of chrome embellishments, while intelligent LED lighting illuminates the way forward. The new looks is also functional, as the aero now slices through the atmosphere with a Cd of 0.29, a figure Merc claims as best-in-class. Under the flared arches, you’ll find wheel sizing ranging between 19 and 22 inches in diameter.

The latest GLE also adds 3 inches to the wheelbase, which helps substantially with regard to passenger room. New for 2020 is six-way electric adjustability for passengers in the second row, plus 12.3-inch infotainment screens as standard with crisp 720p resolution. What’s more, the onboard systems now support gesture control, and offer semi-autonomous features like Active Stop-and-Go Assist, Active Brake Assist, and Cross-Traffic Assist.

Under the hood, the base model GLE comes equipped with a 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder, which is turbocharged to produce upwards of 255 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque. Next in line is a turbo 3.0-liter six-cylinder making 362 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque. If you want even more of the go stuff, Merc is also sure to release the high-powered 2020 Mercedes-AMG GLE63 very shortly. A 4Matic AWD system makes the grip.

Finally, the GLE comes with new E-Active Body Control active suspension system with a mild-hybrid 48-volt power source to keep it all shiny side up.

Look for the 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLE to make its big public debut at the Paris Motor Show this coming October, with an on-sale date slated for sometime next year.

PostHeaderIcon VinFast is a Vietnamese Automaker We All Should Start Paying Attention To

A newborn Vietnamese automaker is looking to make a name for itself in the auto industry using old parts from BMW. That’s the direction VinFast is taking as it prepares to present its first two creations at the 2018 Paris Motor Show next month. Both models are still unnamed, but a report from Autocar states that the two models, a sedan and an SUV, will use BMW platforms, among other parts from the German automaker. Likewise, the two models will feature designs that VinFast developed in collaboration with legendary Italian design house Pininfarina.

PostHeaderIcon What To Expect From The 2018 Paris Motor Show

After reading the title you are undoubtedly expecting to read about the upcoming cars at the 2018 Paris Motor Show and we’ll get to that. Firstly, let me tell you what you simply cannot expect there.

PostHeaderIcon The Kia Proceed Looks Good From Behind!

Kia showcased the ProCeed Concept at the Frankfurt Motor Show last year. The wagon-like car was an attention-seeker at the show, and made us wonder if the production version would be anywhere close to this. Fast-forward one year, and Kia has finally revealed the production-spec Proceed. Well, by ‘reveal’ we mean a teaser image. Yes, a single image is all we get for now.

PostHeaderIcon Skoda Teases the Kodiaq vRS; Promises Reveal at Paris Motor Show

Skoda has finally thrown some light on the first vRS SUV from its stable. The Kodiaq vRS will be unveiled at the upcoming Paris Motor Show in October. Skoda has released two official pictures, giving us a preview of what to expect from the explosive beast. The Czech automaker is also set to reveal the new vRS logo! Excited much?

PostHeaderIcon Next-Gen BMW 3 Series to Debut at Paris Motor Show

Forty-three years and six generations in, the BMW 3 Series remains the standard-bearer among compact luxury sedans. It’s gone through multiple iterations, but the 3 Series still holds court in a segment that has no shortage of rivals. Now that the sixth- and current-generation model is on its last legs, the seventh-generation model with chassis code G20 is about to enter our lives when it makes its debut at the 2018 Paris Motor Show this October. Ready, get set, go. The seventh-gen BMW 3 Series is coming.

PostHeaderIcon Skoda Karoq Sportline

Only days after Skoda introduced the exceptional pseudo-off-road Karoq Scout, the Czech company is gifting us with an all-new version – the Karoq Sportline. It is a sporty interpretation of the compact SUV destined to make its way all over European cities with the character of a happy, raspy crossover, presented here in dashing red. The Karoq Sportline ditched many off-road centric features and embraced gear usually associated with sportier cars from Skoda.

PostHeaderIcon Skoda Karoq Scout Revealed As An Off-road Eager Crossover

Prepared for the unveiling at the Paris Motor Show early in October, the new Skoda Karoq Scout brings a bit more rugged character fused with the known Scout additions adapted for the latest small Skoda crossover. The Scout within the Skoda lineup is something like the Allroad with the Audi line of cars or Volvo’s Cross Country. The Scout line of additions has been a backbone for Skoda cars for some time now. Even the latest Kodiaq SUV got it. The Karoq, which proved to be one of the most popular new Skoda cars, received much the same additions as the Kodiaq sporting a clearly off-road-centered nature.

PostHeaderIcon Redesigned Suzuki Vitara With A New Engine And New Charm

Ever since it became a subcompact crossover, the Suzuki Vitara has managed to outsell almost everything in its class. I cannot say that Suzuki hit the jackpot with it, but it sure got close. Really close. Now in its third year of production, the car has received a mid-cycle facelift that gives it exterior features and a more refined cabin. It Completely ditched the most popular engine from the lineup, though. The 1.6-liter, naturally aspirated engine was replaced with the Boosterjet engine. It is a 1.0-liter that’s good for 109 horsepower and 125 pound-feet of torque. Obviously, not the most powerful engine out there, but it is expected to outsell the other one in the line up (the 1.4-liter, 138 horsepower engine) by quite a margin.

PostHeaderIcon Suzuki Jimny

Most Americans miss out on some really interesting things. Fine, missing out on Kinder eggs is one thing, but missing out on some amazing cars is where we should draw the line.

Take for example the Suzuki Jimny – a pocket-size off-roader capable of treading where only a few would dare. After three generations and more than 2.25 million units sold since 1970, Suzuki finally revealed the first official photos of the fourth generation Jimny.

And, that only happened after some customers captured photos of the new Jimny at a Suzuki private event and published them online. An official live presentation is scheduled for the 2018 Paris Motor Show in October.

PostHeaderIcon Why the BMW X5 Will Debut at the Paris Motor Show

Unlike many big automakers, BMW will have a display at the 2018 Paris Motor Show in October, and that leads to speculation that the long-awaited next-gen X5 could make its debut there.

PostHeaderIcon Lamborghini Joins Volkswagen, Infiniti, Ford and Others in Skipping the 2018 Paris Motor Show

It’s been less than two weeks since Volkswagen announced that it will skip the 2018 Paris Motor Show, and Lamborghini has now revealed that it will join its parent company in not setting up a booth at one of the world’s most important car shows. Volkswagen and Lambo are only two of many automakers that won’t show up in Paris, including Ford, Infiniti Mazda, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Opel, Subaru, and Volvo.

PostHeaderIcon The Kia Proceed Shooting Brake Could Debut at the Paris Motor Show

The Kia Proceed Concept turned a lot of heads at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show. Initially thought of as a design study to determine the design direction of the next-generation Ceed, the positive reception surrounding the concept forced Kia to rethink its initial plans for the car. A production version is now in the works, and word on the street is that it will make its debut at the 2018 Paris Motor Show this October.

PostHeaderIcon Ferrari 458 Speciale A

Ferrari unveiled the 458 Italia in 2010, then followed that up with the more precise and track-ready 458 Speciale in 2014. As is the tradition with all modern mid-engined Ferraris, Maranello creates a great car, then a year or two later it chops the top off of it to create a roadster version. We knew it was coming, but now the convertible version of the Ferrari 458 Speciale is here, and it’s calling it the “A.”

It may be a silly name, but that A stands for Aperta, the Italian word for open. This is also more than a simple roofless version of the 458 Speciale; the Speciale A features the most powerful naturally aspirated V-8 the company has ever used in a spider. Compared to the old 458 Spider, this new machine is faster and more powerful, and Ferrari was even able to keep the weight down. This new car only weighs 50 kg (110 pounds) more than its hard-top sibling.

If you want one, you need to get your order in yesterday. Ferrari is limiting this new car to just 499 units. We don’t know how many of those are slated for U.S. consumption, but rest assured it won’t be a lot. If you are undecided about taking home one of these beauties, hit that jump and read our full overview of this incredible new Italian convertible.

Updated 08/18/2017: We added a series of new images taken during the 2017 Monterey Car Week.

PostHeaderIcon Mercedes-AMG C63

AMG began meddling with the C-Class in 1995 — one year after the C-Class debuted — when it released the C36 AMG and its 268-horsepower V-6. The 1998 model year brought about the release of the C43 AMG, which featured a larger V-8 engine rated at 302 ponies. AMG then followed that up with the 349-horsepower C32 AMG in 2002, and then with the 362-horsepower C55 AMG in 2005. Finally, in 2008, the C63 AMG sent the sedan into 450-horsepower territory with a huge 6.2-liter V-8 tweaked to generate 451 horses. With the standard 2015 C-Class having arrived in dealerships in early 2014, Mercedes-Benz is rolling out a brand-new iteration of the AMG-prepped C63.This time around dubbed Mercedes-AMG C63, with the Germans dropping the Benz moniker from the official name, the new-generation vehicle marks the beginning of a new era for the sedan.

Much like its predecessor did in 2008, the 2015 Mercedes-AMG C63 gets a brand-new engine in the form of a biturbo, 4.0-liter V-8. The unit is identical with the one previously launched in the AMG GT sports car and comes not with just more horsepower, but with improved fuel efficiency as well. Read on for the full details surrounding AMG’s new high-performance compact.

Update 5/26/2017:The Mercedes C-Class is up for a mid-cycle update, and now we’re finally getting the first look at the facelifted version of the C63. The spy shots still show some camo, but give us an idea of what to expect later this year when the updated C-Class makes its debut. Check out the spy shots section below to hear about what we know so far.

PostHeaderIcon Mini Countryman

Launched in 2010, the Countryman is one of the newest additions to the Mini family. Based on the Crossover Concept, the company’s first mini SUV debuted at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show with a range of four-cylinder gasoline and diesel engines, a six-speed manual, and a six-speed automatic transmission. An all-wheel-drive model was added for the 2014 model year, a year before the Countryman received its mid-cycle refresh. Longer, wider and taller than any other Mini, the Countryman just got even larger with the second-generation model.

The new Countryman was spotted testing in Germany as early as September of 2014. Two years have passed and the crossover was unveiled at the 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show. Significantly larger than its predecessor, the new Countryman boasts a new exterior and a revamped interior with modern features and new technology. Although Mini claims that the new crossover “remains firmly rooted in the tradition of the British brand,” the modern-day Countryman has very little in common with the original two-door estate from the 1960s.

This will be highly noticeable among purists, some of which might be offended by the comparison, but open-minded fans will probably appreciate the enhanced roominess and larger trunk space that come with a longer and wider body. The redesigned crossover will hit North American shores starting March 2017. Stay tuned for updates.

Updated 12/07/2016: Mini announced prices for the 2017 Countryman which will go on sale in March 2017.

PostHeaderIcon Audi RS3 LMS

Launched in 2013, the A3 Sedan is the latest iteration of the compact hatchback that Audi introduced way back in 1996. Essentially identical to the five-door save for the extra bodywork at the rear, the sedan features the same interior and drivetrains. The four-door gained a performance-oriented S3 version in 2015, while the range-topping, RS3 was unveiled at the 2016 Paris Motor Show.

While the RS3 Sedan was rumored for quite a few years and was somewhat expected to debut in 2016, its official launch brought a huge surprise from Audi, in the form of the RS3 LMS. Named after the race-spec, already iconic R8 LMS, the RS3 LMS is the first factory-built race car based on the A3 sedan and was developed specifically for the TCR series.

If you’re not familiar with the competition, it’s a new touring car championship that debuted in 2015. Promoted as a cost-effective spin-off of the World Touring Car Championship (WTCC), the TCR series is sanctioned by the FIA and based on a three-pillar concept that includes national and continental championships, along with the global TCR International Series. All three tiers function under the same technical regulations.

The Audi RS3 LMS will compete in the top-tier TCR International Series, which has been disputed by several brands in 2016, including Alfa Romeo, Ford, Honda, Opel, Peugeot, Seat, Subaru, and Volkswagen. The beefed-up sedan will debut in the 2017 season as a customer race car backed by Audi Sport, the company’s motorsport division.

“With the Audi R8 LMS, Audi Sport customer racing, in a very short time, managed to build a successful customer sport program alongside the factory commitments in the WEC and the DTM. The Audi R8 LMS has since become the market leader in its segment. We have the same plans for the Audi RS 3 LMS, which offers customers an attractive opportunity to get started in fascinating Audi racing,” said Stephan Winkelmann, managing director at Audi Sport.
