PostHeaderIcon 2020 BMW X4M Speculatively Rendered, Looks Great

So yesterday we brought to you the official pictures, details and videos of the new BMW X4, talking a bit unkindly about its looks. Well, as it turns out we have to resort to the realm of imagination to get a good-looking X4. This is the purely speculative 2020 BMW X4M, and we think it looks pretty awesome.

This, of course, is a rendering by the independent designer X-Tomi Design and it will never happen in the real world. At least if the previous model is any indication it won’t. That is a shame, because to look at this imaginary 2020 BMW X4M is quite a looker, what with the lowered ride height, flares arches, and M specific bumpers which remedy the flaws of the standard X4’s design at the front. We have to admit, though, that sweetass color has a lot to do with our opinion of this car!

Performance-wise, too, 2020 BMW X4M would sit pretty well with M fans. The standard X4 comes with two lite M models, including X4 M40i petrol and X4 M40d diesel. All it takes for BMW to make a full-on M version is to spice these a little bit. With AMG now offering downsized version of their high performance models under the 53 moniker, it only makes sense for BMW to follow suit and release their own watered-down M cars. Of course, we would love to see a V8 twin-turbo in the X4, but that is just too much to even dream about.

While we’re at it, check out the official design sketches of the 2019 X4 below:

PostHeaderIcon This Is the 2020 Mercedes-AMG A45, Probably

Only a day after the debut of the new 2019 Mercedes A-Class, the internet gives us our first look at the AMG version of the premium hatchback. The 2020 Mercedes-AMG A45 seems to be spot on, at least based on what we know of AMG’s methods in turning ordinary Mercs into hotrods.

That said, there are a couple of issues with this rendering that might put off the more pedantic viewer. The first is the name itself. The 2020 Mercedes-AMG A45 may not even happen. They are still going to make an AMG version of it, but it will probably get a new model name, most likely the A53. But who cares about the name? The other issue is the front grille which in the new generation of AMG Mercs is a modern interpretation of the Panamericana grille. Apart from that, this is almost certainly how the next hotted-up baby Merc will look like.

As for the power and performance and all that, if we go by the way things were done when the first A45 came out, the new model should have around 400 horsepower. But things are a-changing, and there is talk of further downsizing and limiting the power output in favor of higher efficiency. That would be for the best, since even the current A45 does not make much sense given how much it costs. Who needs a 400 horsepower, four-wheel-drive hatchback that costs as much as a sport sedan?

PostHeaderIcon Ferrari 488 GTO (Sport Special) Rendering Seems Spot On

While we are still not sure what the upcoming hotted-up Ferrari 488 is officially called, we have a good idea about how it looks thanks to a leaked picture that hit the web a while ago. Now there is a good rendering of this, let’s call it Ferrari 488 GTO, showing the face of the supercar in full glory.

The design of Ferrari 488 GTO is dominated at the front by a sporty new apron featuring a new lip spoiler. This is part of an advanced new aero kit the car gets to cut through the air more efficiently than its plain sister, the GTB. The lip is complemented with side blades on either side of the bumper – probably active in that they open and close depending on the speed – dynamic side skirts, and, almost certainly, a pretty sizable rear diffuser with pronounced fins and most likely new tailpipe arrangement.

Ferrari 488 GTO will also sit lower than the regular version, rides on bigger wheels shod with slicker tires, and will also be lighter, maybe by as much as a 100 kg. As for the power, while the bi-turbo V8 engine will remain the same in terms of displacement, there will be adjustments made to the control units and the turbochargers themselves. Sources are talking about an output of at least 700 horsepower. But with this track-focused model it is not just the power, but the way it’s used. The GTO will probably outrun the LaFerrari hypercar around Ferrari’s Fiorano track.

PostHeaderIcon 2019 Mercedes CLS Rendered in a Bunch of Guises

Don’t like the new 2019 Mercedes CLS? Want to see it butchered in by Photoshop? Well then you’ve come to the right place! Maybe butchered is not a fair word to use here, seeing as the shooting brake and coupe variants are looking pretty good. But you will agree the CLS pickup and that CLS 63 AMG depicted here are kind of horrendous.

This is not to say that artist has done a bad job. Not at all. Technically, these renderings are top works. It’s just the idea of a Mercedes CLS pickup truck that is revolting and doesn’t make any sense. The same goes for the CLS 63 AMG which, as you may know, is not going to happen. Anf hallelujah to that, if it were going to look like this. The next AMG CLS will be called CLS 53 and it’s a hybrid. So chances are AMG designer will steer clear of their usual tricks and come up with some new elements.

Now for the eye candies… Let’s begin with the Mercedes CLS Shooting Brake which is a nice thing to look at on account of its sexy sloping roof. Granted, the front-end is still controversial, but at least with the Shooting Brake one does not have to look at the hideous back end featured on the standard CLS. As for the two-door and convertible models rendered here, they are awesome and hopefully we will see them in real life as the next generaion E-Coupe and E-Cabrio.

PostHeaderIcon Dacia Duster GT Could and Should Happen

There used to be a time when the name Dacia was synonymous with the lowest level of automobile class hierarchy. Now though, thanks to all Chinese crap floating around the market, Dacias are actually pretty decent cars. The new 2018 Duster, for example, is a cool little crossover. That is why we reckon stuff like this imaginary Dacia Duster GT could do well if they were to be built.

This is just a rendering for now, but a Dacia Duster GT could very well be on the cards inside the company’s offices in Romania or wherever they are located. After all, they have shown a keen interest in making various special editions of the Duster before. And those were based on the previous generation Duster which was, to put it mildly, godawful. The new Duster is better looking, better built and better equipped. The GT treatment could make it the first Dacia we would actually want to own.

In addition to its new design, the new Dacia Duster packs new equipment and boasts a completely revamped interior while at the same time building on the original’s strengths, namely cabin space, real off-road ability and an affordable price tag. Its performance is nothing to write home about, but that doesn’t mean they can’t pull of a Dacia Duster GT. All they have to do is call on their parent company, Renault, and ask for one of their hot little turbo engines. It doesn’t even have to be new. Anything from last generation Megane or Clio would do.

In terms of design they definitely should follow what independent designer X-Tomi Design has done here and sportify the Duster with revised bumpers, a set of aero parts, black accents, and larger wheels, preferably in black. The interior could benefit from two-tone upholstery and trim, and a sport exhaust would make the whole package more appealing.

PostHeaderIcon Hyundai i30 N Fastback Render Looks Intriguing

Hyundai i30 N Fastback

While the hatchback Hyundai i30 N has captivated fans the world over with its cool blend of performance, practicality and value, its sister the Fastback is not getting as much attention as it deserve. Maybe they shouldn’t have unveiled them simultaneously. In any case, there is a solution to that and that is what you are looking at here, the Hyundai i30 N Fastback.

Yep, just give the Fastback the N treatment and it becomes just as cool as the other one. This car, of course, is just a speculative render of what a Hyundai i30 N Fastback might look like and it only shows the car from one side. But it is enough to convince us the whole thing is a good idea. I mean, what’s not to like about a sleeker, more practical i30 N? You get the sporty looks thanks to the unique aero kit and colors of the N treatment, and you get the style and class of the Fastback.

And most importantly you get the performance of the N car in an overall more desirable package. Yes, the hatchback is very nice and all that, but the thing is if you drive a hot hatchback you are sort of marking yourself as a certain type of individual, whereas a high-performance fastback could be driven by anybody. What’s more, the hatchback is not a car for every occasion, but you can take the Fastback to the best restaurants and the valet would still open the door for you.

PostHeaderIcon Ferrari P3 Hypercar Rendered as Valkyrie Rival

ferrari-p3-hypercar

We are currently living the age of hybrid hypercars and it’s been fairly exciting, what with the rivalry between the LaFerrari, McLaren P1 and Porsche 918. But already it seems the tide is shifting towards crazier, more technologically sophisticated machines such as Mercedes AMG Project One and Aston Martin Valkyrie. So an independent designer decided to speculate what Ferrari’s answer to all this would be like.

And here’s what he came up with, Ferrari P3 which is a futuristic hypercar designed with inspirations from the aforementioned products. Now, this might seem like a pretty outlandish idea, and it is frankly, but something like this has a much greater chance of actually happening that may realize. See, if indeed this is where the hypercar game is headed, and all the evidence suggest that might be the case, Ferrari cannot just sit back and watch other brands runaway with the market. They are going to have to react, and that reaction could look a helluva lot like what you are seeing here.

Follow Our Channel for New Videos Everyday: Subscribe

What we can’t imagine is what sort of powertrain a Ferrari hypercar of this caliber would use. Of course we know that that electrically-boosted V12 in the LaFerrari has still more potential than its current 1,000 horsepower output, but it is just not in the same league as the F1-derived powertrain in the AMG One. What’s more, we don’t yet know what Porsche might have in store should they decide to join this high-roller club. Traditionally, what Porsche brings to the table makes all the other offerings look like they belong to the previous century.

So yes, it’s only getting more exciting, this hypercar game!

PostHeaderIcon Modern-Day Peugeot 205 GTI Imagined by Designer

Peugeot-205-GTI-Modern-Day

Don’t read too much into this, but the head of Peugeot design has recently penned a modern-day Peugeot 205 GTI. He maintains this was a fun project he did for himself to blow off some steam with, but we won’t be surprised at all if a few years from now they actually bring back the icon.

Resurrecting iconic models is an established practice among car makers, but producing Peugeot 205 GTI presents Peugeot with a couple of tiny problems. For one thing, they have a naming system that doesn’t allow going back, you see. They are now at 208 with their hatchbacks, so they can’t jump back and make a 205 all of a sudden. Then there is the question of marketing, and whether they’re going to make or lose money on such a project.

Follow Our Channel for New Car Videos Everyday: Subscribe

Of course, both of those problems can be circumvented by making this modern Peugeot 205 GTI a special and strictly limited edition car based on the current 208 GTI platform. And we really do hope to see this thing happen, not just because the 205 GTI is quite possibly the best and coolest hot hatch of all time (along with the original Golf GTI) but also because we really like what we are seeing here in these sketches. This re-imagined 205 GTI looks crisp and modern, and yet true fans can instantly recognize the clues from the original subtly integrated into its design.

PostHeaderIcon Lexus LC 500 Shooting Brake – Makes Sense?

Lexus LC500 Shooting Brake

One of the best looking cars to be launched this year is the new Lexus LC 500 luxury coupe. And as with any other good looking car, people want to see it in their favorite body style. Some like convertibles, some four-door sedans. In recent years though, more and more people are becoming fond of the Shooting Brake shape.

So here you go, a Shooting Brake version of the Lexus LC 500. Granted, it’s tricked-out and slammed and fitted for some unfathomable reason with a cargo box on the roof. But you get a general idea of what this handsome Lexus looks like as a sexy wagon. The designer has also taken liberties with the pillars and sills and some other body panels, but they are tasteful changes he’s done to the car.

We think there is a case to be made for the Lexus LC 500 Shooting Brake. It’s a more practical version of a handsome coupe, what’s not to like? What’s more, Mercedes-Benz is making a SB version their four-door coupes, and we know Porsche is preparing a shooting brake version of the Panamera. So even the accountants are going to find this idea worth considering.

PostHeaderIcon Rendering: Audi Q2 Convertible

Audi Q2 Convertible

Many people are still looking at the Range Rover Evoque Convertible with one raised eyebrow, not sure how they feel about this open-top SUV and questioning the whole idea. It remains to be seen how the public reacts to the Evoque Cabrio, but rest assured, if it turns out to be a hit then everybody will be making a convertible crossover.

That’s where this comes is, a speculative rendering of Audi Q2 Convertible. The new compact crossover, unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this month, seems like a good candidate for the head chopping treatment. The smallest member of Audi’s Q family does look rather interesting sans the roof. We say interesting because it would be a big leap calling this – or any topless SUV, for that matter – good looking. They are just too controversial.

And just in case this imaginary Audi Q2 Convertible became a real thing someday, let’s remind ourselves what sort of engines the car can be had with. That hardtop launches in a few months with three TFSI and three TDI engines, including a new 1.0 liter three-cylinder unit with 116 hp. There’s also a 1.4 liter with 150 hp and 2.0 TFSI with 190 hp. Diesel choices include a 1.6 liter with 116 hp and a 2.0 liter with either 150 or 190 hp.

PostHeaderIcon Bugatti Chiron Rendered on Forgiato Wheels

Bugatti Chiron-Forgiato

In all the years the Bugatti Veyron has been around, there have been maybe two or three examples of it fitted with a set of Forgiato Wheels. That’s a shame, because Forgiato to the wheels industry is what Bugatti is to the car industry and there should be more marriages between the two.

Hopefully that’ll be the case with the new Bugatti Chiron. Not that the companies have announced any particular plans, but people are already thinking about how awesome the result of such cooperation would be. Here we have a rendering of the new Chiron on a set of Forgiato Fondare ECL rims, customized to match the look and paint work of the car. And we have to say it looks pretty darn good.

Now, there are people who believe one must not mess around with wheels and stuff on car Bugatti Chiron, what with it being a superbly technical machine with a ton of power (1,500 horsepower) and a serious turn of speed (260 mph). They say it could ruin the performance. But these are people who only read about the car and look at its pictures. The people who actually buy cars like Chiron do it for the most part for the prestige of the car. They want to show off, and that’s why Forgiato wheels are ideal for the Chiron. It’s all about the visual drama.

PostHeaderIcon Another Rendering of Bugatti Chiron Grand Sport

Bugatti Chiron Grand Sport-render-new-1

Now that the new Bugatti Chiron has made its official debut and we know how it looks like, renderings artists the world over are scrambling to imagine what the car might look like when they inevitably chop its roof and make a roadster version. These new renderings of Bugatti Chiron Grand Sport come from RM Design, and they seem to be pretty much spot on.

That said, what the designer has come up with has the same problem as the one we showed you a few days ago. The hardtop Chiron a big strip of chrome garnishing the side profile, extending all the way from the top of the side windows to the bottom of the side sills. It will be interesting to see how they will change this thing in the real Bugatti Chiron Grand Sport, but they almost certainly won’t cut it off willy nilly like in this photos.

Bugatti Chiron Grand Sport-render-new-2

Another reason we’re looking forward to seeing the real Bugatti Chiron Grand Sport is the performance. The hardtop, as I’m sure you know, comes with a 1,500 horsepower W16 quad-turbo engine which gives the car a top speed of 260 mph. The laws of physics will not allow the convertible (with the top down) be just as quick. But rest assured, the open-top Chiron will continue the holding on the fastest convertible crown won fair and square by its Grand Sport predecessor.

PostHeaderIcon Aston Martin DB11 Volante Rendering Emerges

Aston Martin DB11 Volante

After giving us an early look at the drop-top version of the new Bugatti Chiron, Designer X-Tomi has now taken the roof off the second hottest car of this year’s Geneva Motor Show. The Aston Martin DB11 Volante shown here is pretty much what the real thing will look like when it arrives next year.

So if you are totally smitten with the DB11 Coupe, and who can blame you, you should hold on a bit and wait for the Volante before placing an order. Traditionally, Cabriolet version of any coupe Aston is a lot sexier, even though the only difference is the lack or a solid roof. Aston Martin DB11 Volante is no exception, although we have to admit this isn’t a particularly brilliant angel you’re looking at here.

Speaking of tradition, another trait we’ve been seeing with open-top Astons this past few years is the convertible is usually not as good to drive as the hardtop. That certainly was the case with the DB9 Volante when it was first launched. That said, it’s not something that actively bugs you unless you are the kind of person who tracks their open-top cruiser. Otherwise, the convertible is a much better choice, mainly because of the looks, but also because it comes with ninety-million miles of sky as standard.

Bugatti Chiron Grand Sport-render

Well, it didn’t take long for a speculative rendering of what the drop-top Bugatti Chiron Grand Sport may look like to hit the web after the hyper car’s debut at the Geneva Motor Show. This helps if you were wondering whether you should order the hardtop Chiron or wait for the roadster version.

Mind you, that is only a problem if you have 2.4 million Euros lying around, because that is what a Chiron coupe costs. The convertible Bugatti Chiron Grand Sport will probably cost a little bit more, and it’s going to be a little bit slower, what with it being roofless and all. We reckon instead of 420 km/h you’ll get 410 out of the GS at best.

That is hardly a deal breaker, of course, and at the end of the day it comes down to which body style you like better. The rendering you see here does give an idea what the Grand Sport Chiron may look like, but it doesn’t tell the whole story. The Chiron has a unique roof design that is part of the interior design. Chopping that thing off probably requires heavy modifications of the mid-section of the car.

What you can be sure of is that Bugatti Chiron Grand Sport will get the same 1,500 horsepower W16 quad turbo engine as the coupe mated to the new dual-clutch transmission.

PostHeaderIcon Jaguar F-Type Sedan Is Worth Considering

Jaguar F-Type Sedan

Jaguar, as you know, have already made many different variants of the F-Type sports car – from coupe, to convertible, R, SVR, all-wheel-drive, and Project 7. Now, we think, it’s time they consider a four-door version. As you can see here, a Jaguar F-Type Sedan could be a nice addition to the range.

Granted, the Jaguar F-Type Sedan in this rendering is not a full-blown saloon car, as that nicely curved rear-end makes it more of a shooting brake. But the point is, a four-door F-Type makes a lot of sense if just for the fact that it offers more of a beautiful thing. It’s sort of like if Megan Fox was taller… or had a bigger butt. You get the picture.

This four-door F-Type looks particularly cool thanks to a range of modifications the designer has applied to it. He has slammed the car on a set of large aftermarket wheel and also given it a subtle aero kit with front and rear spoilers and side skirts. but even without the extra goodies, this four-door Jag looks lightyears better than the company’s own XE and XF.

We would definitely like to see this thing in production, preferably with the 550 horsepower supercharged V8 of the F-Type R under the bonnet.

PostHeaderIcon Just for Fun: Drifting Wide Body LaFerrari!

Wide Body LaFerrari

We have seen some pretty crazy things happen in the car world, but one thing we’re pretty sure will never happen is somebody putting a wide body kit on their LaFerrari, and then go drifting with it. That’s why it’s fun fantasizing about it.

That is what designer Jon Sibal has been up to, penning this cool wide body LaFerrari, boasting a Liberty Walk-esque body kit captured in that magical moment of pulling the perfect powerslide. We have to say, the wide body treatment does suit the LaFezza rather well. We especially like the carbon fiber ducktail spoiler that sticks out like the tongue of a spoiled child when you tell him clean his room.

‘Long as we’re dreaming over here, we would also put on this wide body LaFerrari a couple of turbochargers, a straight-piped exhaust system, and maybe a nitrous package. Next stage of upgrades would be chopping that carbon fiber roof off and making a LaFerrari Spider.

PostHeaderIcon Alpine Vision Convertible Is a Great Idea

Alpine Vision Convertible

One of the biggest highlights of this year’s Geneva Motor Show, without a question or shadow of doubt, is going to be the new Renault Alpine Vision concept. This car is headed into production next year, and here’s what it looks like as a convertible.

Now, before you get your hopes up, we have to point out that the gorgeous Alpine Vision Convertible you see here is not a real thing. It’s a rendering penned by a great designer to give us a taste of what the new Alpine could be like as a convertible. It’s like a really good-looking Porsche Boxster, isn’t it?

It is too early to rule out the possibility of Renault ever releasing an Alpine Vision Convertible. But it’s a slim chance they would ever consider this model because the Vision is a revival of the old 110 sports car, and therefore it should only come as a coupe. That said, if the marketing department sees an opportunity here for making a few bucks, they could consider it.

We sincerely hope they do, because the idea of a drop-top Alpine sports car with those looks and the turbocharged four-pot Renault has promised for this bad boy is just too enticing to ignore.

PostHeaderIcon SEAT Ateca Rendered in Cupra Guise

Seat Ateca Cupra

In an effort to see what the sporty version of the new SEAT Ateca SUV, revealed only a few days ago, will look like, designer X-Tomi has penned this Cupra version. The car maker has not confirmed yet they are going to make a Cupra Ateca, but if they do, chances are it’ll look pretty close to what you see here.

To design his SEAT Ateca Cupra, Tomi has drawn inspiration from the existing SEAT Cupra model. It can be seen in the shape of the front bumper with its large air intakes and mesh grille as well as the chunky side skirts. This being a SUV, he’s also added the new underbody protection component which double as styling elements. Naturally for a Cupra, the car also gets lowered suspension, larger wheels, and better brakes with red calipers.

As for the engine the real, production SEAT Ateca Cupra would get, by today’s standards it should be a 2.0 liter turbocharged with well over 200 horsepower. But who knows what will happen by the time this model is ready to launch. By then SEAT may be using a 1.6 or a 1.4 turbo engine in their high-performance model. But rest assured whatever engine size becomes the trend, the power figure won’t diminish below the current level.

PostHeaderIcon Rendering: Ferrari GTC4 Lusso 5-Door

Ferrari GTC4 Lusso 5door

In the four days since it was revealed, Ferrari GTC4 Lusso has created a lot of noise because of its unique looks and character, as well as its complicated technical features. The car has also stimulated the imagination of a great many independent designers.

In this rendering designer X-Tomi has tried to imagine an even more practical version of the Ferrari GTC4 Lusso by adding two extra doors to the vehicle. In other words, he has turned the Lusso from a Shooting Brake into a full on five-door hatchback. Granted, it’s a giant hatchback, but a hatchback nonetheless.

If you can get over names and labels, the five-door Ferrari GTC4 Lusso actually make a lot of sense. The car is a four-seater anyway, so why not having the convenience of rear doors? It can’t be for concerns over the looks, because as you can clearly see here the end result is quite spectacular.

The reason the Lusso is not a five-door when it comes out of the factory is because Ferrari is reluctant to produce anything with more than two doors in any body style. It’s apparently an affront to their traditional values. The four-wheel-drive and rear-wheel steering are okay. But rear doors? Fuggedaboutit!
