PostHeaderIcon The Production Version of the 2018 Vision iNext will Bring an All-New Platform, New Autonomous Technology

Shown for the first time in official photos earlier in 2018, the BMW Vision iNext made its global debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show. The concept vehicle previews the German company’s future platform, autonomous technology, and its take on car connectivity and electrification.

PostHeaderIcon Apparently Porsche is Considering a 911-Based SUV

Would you be ready for Porsche to make a high-riding 911? Well, it turns out the idea is something being considered, according to a report quoting a Member of the Executive Board of Sales and Marketing.

PostHeaderIcon Kia Showcases New Safety and Tech Features In the Niro EV

Kia used the 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show as an opportunity to finally introduce the Kia Niro EV. As the almost identical sibling of Europe’s Kia e-Niro, the Niro EV showcases a handful of new technologies that could serve as precursors for Kia’s plans for its own electric future. It’s easy to get lost in the crossover’s aesthetics and appreciate, for example, the “Arrowhead” LED daytime running lights, the closed-off grille, the multifunctional center console, or even the blue mood lighting. But just as those things define the Niro EV, so, too, do the list of safety and tech features that could one day end up in other Kia models – one of the most important being Kia’s updated UVO system that can now send notifications of battery and charging status, as well charging station updates in real-time.

PostHeaderIcon This is the 2018 Mitsubishi E-Evolution Concept and We’re Not Sure How to Feel About It

Mitsubishi has brought its e-Evolution concept to the U.S. for the first time at the 2018 Los Angeles auto show after its last showing at the 2018 Geneva motor show. It’s a study for a sporty, all-electric performance crossover with an iconic name, but one that we don’t see reaching production any time soon, at least in a form as extreme as this.

PostHeaderIcon The Hyundai Palisade is Here to Best the Toyota Highlander, Honda Pilot, and Nissan Pathfinder

Hyundai is really trying to muscle in on the segment dominated by the likes of the Toyota Highlander and Honda Pilot with the 2020 Palisade SUV. It’s a three-row high rider with distinctive styling, lots of tech, and plenty of space inside where occupants are treated to a surprisingly premium ambiance. It also has an unusual, yet powerful drivetrain under its hood.

PostHeaderIcon Cadillac Introduces the Not-So-Sporty Cadillac Escalade Sport Edition

Anxious to finally see a V-Sport version of the Cadillac Escalade in showrooms? Well, you’ll have to wait a while longer as Cadillac isn’t planning on one until the next-gen SUV arrives. However, the luxury brand just debuted the Cadillac Sport at the 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show. Sadly though, it’s not as sporty as the badge suggests.

PostHeaderIcon Honda Touts The New Passport SUV As its Resident Off-Roader

Honda is under no illusion on how it’s going to market the new Passport SUV. Slotted between the CR-V and the range-topping Pilot, the Passport takes its turn in the spotlight as Honda’s do-it-all SUV, the kind that carries enough space inside for the family and has the performance chops to be the go-anywhere ride that can tackle whatever road surface it finds itself on. The Passport is also rich in add-ons, packages, and accessories, giving all of you a lot of leeway on how to customize your Passports depending on your tastes and preferences. The Passport is on the clock for an early 2020 launch. Honda has yet to give the specifics on a timetable, but it did say that the SUV will be offered in four trim levels, including the range-topping Elite trim. Pricing for the SUV drops closer to launch. Considering where it’s slotted, expect the Passport to cost a little cheaper than the top-level Pilot, which starts at $31,450.

PostHeaderIcon Wallpaper of the Day: K5 Chevy Blazer Restomod by RingBrothers

We don’t usually feature tuner vehicles in our wallpaper of the day series. In fact, we’ve been kind of lazy with our wallpaper of the day series, haven’t we? Well, either way, that’s without consequence at this point. The point is that today, we’re featuring a tuner car or, to be more specific, a restomod. It’s a restomod by none other than RingBrothers, and it’s the best off-road restomod that we’ve ever laid eyes on. It looks like a stock K5 Blazer from a distance, but once you get up close, you’ll see the RingBrothers put in some serious work here. It has custom running boards and side panels, and it has even been lifted by an entire inch to make room for the 17-inch wheels. The interior is wrapped in a subtle leather and under the hood sits a GM-sourced, LS3 crate engine that’s good for 430 ponies. In the end, this thing is downright beautiful, and it reminds us of what SUVs used to be. If you want to know more about the RingBrothers K5 restomod, check out our full review. Otherwise, look down to grab our favorite wallpaper or browse through a rather generous selection that are all available for free download.

PostHeaderIcon The 2020 Range Rover Evoque Has the Coolest Rear View Mirror Ever

The Range Rover Evoque isn’t exactly a spring chicken and 2019 marks the introduction of the second-generation of Land Rovers entry-level people mover. Entry level is a weak word when it comes to the Evoque however and, despite the fact that this model looks a lot like the old at a glance, there’s a lot of new tech here. The Evoque just became Land Rovers first mild hybrid vehicle and a plug-in model is even on the way. New screens adorn the updated dashboard inside but what really stuck out to me was the new hybrid rear view mirror.

PostHeaderIcon What if there was a Suzuki Jimny 4×4² ?

There are plenty of manufacturers these days that milk all their models as much as possible by offering them in different flavors and variations. Mercedes is a great example here, as the Three-Pointed Star created the G-Class 4×4², a low volume exclusive model that caused a huge stir when it was first unveiled (initially as a 6×6 pickup). So, what would it be like if Suzuki did the same thing with the Jimny? Well, I took to Photoshop to find out….

PostHeaderIcon Visual Comparison Between the Aston Martin DBX Prototype and the Aston Martin DBX Concept

Aston Martin is going in. All in with an SUV. The DBX prototype it showed only weeks ago confirmed the company’s intention to build high-end luxury SUVs, now plastered with Aston Martin design cues, sophisticated overall looks, and technology to compete with novel entries such as the Lambo Urus and any of the Porsche Cayennes. The DBX prototype may not be fully revealed yet, but I have enough to go on to compare it with the DBX Concept that appeared in 2015. The SUV that will eventually reach the market in 2020 takes the conventional shape of a modern SUV but with a few curious touches that will make it somewhat special among a number of competitors. Interestingly enough, it did forgo all the cool touches we have seen on the DBX concept. It is a completely different beast.

PostHeaderIcon Someone Seriously Did Doughnuts in a Field with a Rolls-Royce Cullinan

The Rolls-Royce Cullinan is the first ever utility vehicle offered by the British luxury car manufacturer but, beyond being able to carry the super-rich down the world’s highways and busy metropolitan streets, it can also go off-road like no BMW ever could. This was further showcased when someone decided to do doughnuts in one. In a field.

Launched this year, the Cullinan, named after the largest flawless diamond ever found, is Rolls-Royce’s first ’high-sided car.’ It’s the perfect Alpha to Bentley Bentayga’s Omega and, as we’ve discussed just a couple of days ago, it’s also good when taken off-road.

However, some owners, who’ve paid in excess of $325,000 to get their hands on one, seem not to be entirely convinced of the test that was organized for the press by Rolls-Royce to showcase the Cullinan’s capacity off the beaten path. This owner, for instance, decided it’d be a good idea to take his SUV to a field and just do doughnuts to the sheer enjoyment of those who happen to film the whole thing.

PostHeaderIcon Honda Passport

The Honda Passport was the Japanese company’s first entry into the SUV market in the United States. The Passport was born from a partnership between Honda and Isuzu as a badge-engineered version of the Rodeo. The Passport arrived in the U.S. for the 1994 model year, three years after the Isuzu Rodeo. The second-generation model was introduced for 1998 and production came to a halt in 2002.

Launched to compete against the Ford Explorer, Jeep Cherokee, and Nissan Pathfinder, the Passport was Honda’s desperate answer to the SUV craze that was taking off in the U.S. And even though it wasn’t impressively popular back in the day, it gave Honda a good start in the crossover field ahead of the CR-V’s American launch in 1997. The Passport is bound to return for the 2019 model year, so let’s have a closer look at its predecessors from the 1990s and early 2000s.

PostHeaderIcon Land Rover Spent Almost £1 Billion To Give the Evoque a Mild Facelift and New Technology

Land Rover chose Thanksgiving day to debut the new Range Rover Evoque and here we are looking at a model that, at a glance, received a very mild, even somewhat Audi-like, facelift. Below this mildly changed skin, however, Land Rover claims it has spent nearly £1 Billion to refine the architecture underneath with the goal of making it suitable for electrification.

The interior is also littered with plenty of high-end tech, including two high-definition touchscreen displays, refined infotainment software, and artificial intelligence. Powertrain options include a range of diesel and gasoline engines. The entry-level model (the D150 trim) is the only model available with a six-speed manual and is the only model available without Land Rover’s mild hybrid technology. Towing capacity ranges anywhere between 3,527 and 4,409 pounds depending on trim and equipment level.

PostHeaderIcon Hybrid Compact Crossover Shakedown – 2019 Toyota RAV4 Vs. 2019 Nissan Rogue Vs. 2019 Subaru Crosstrek

We recently posted an article that argued that the 2019 Toyota RAV4 hybrid is the way forward for the compact crossover segment, lauding its combination of comfort, practicality, technology, and most critically, efficiency. However, Toyota isn’t the only automaker in this space, with both Nissan and Subaru offering competing models that could very well steal sales from the T-badge. But how do these three look in a direct comparison?

PostHeaderIcon What do we know about the Aston Martin DBX Crossover?

Joining the onslaught of super powerful and super luxurious SUVs of today, Aston Martin revealed the first photos of the new DBX. Although still under heavy camouflage, we can clearly see the contours of the first Aston Martin SUV. Furthermore, with a bit of research, I did find out quite a bit about the newest competitor among super SUVs.

Nevertheless, it is still quite uncertain what segment the SUV will enter. Will it be like a hyped-up version of SUVs the size of the Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio, or will it match the audaciousness, and the size of the X5M, or the AMG GLE 63S? These are the unknowns we are still investigating.

Despite its size, the Aston Martin DBX is going to join the exclusive club of unanticipated super SUVs like the Bentley Bentayga, the Porsche Cayenne, and even the Rolls Royce Cullinan. Granted, all of these SUVs tread a slightly different path but have some commonalities like being powerful, fast, and full of technology.

PostHeaderIcon Mitsubish May Finally Update the Shogun, aka Pajero After 20 Years of the Same

A wise man once said that SUVs don’t need upgrades and facelifts regularly as these beasts age gracefully. I think that man worked at Mitsubishi because, at a time when companies update their monsters every 3-4 years, the Japanese automaker is continuing with same old design on their Shogun that, essentially, dates back to last century. However, Mitsubishi has announced that the SUV could finally get a makeover.

PostHeaderIcon The 2019 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid Is The Way Forward For The Compact Crossover Segment

We’ve said it countless times before, but we’ll say it again – the compact crossover segment is ridiculously popular right now. However, much of this segment growth can be attributed to low fuel prices, and when gas gets more expensive (not if, but when), customer demands could shift dramatically to hybrids. However, by the looks of it, Toyota doesn’t have much to worry about, and it’s all thanks to the 2019 RAV4.

PostHeaderIcon Honda Passport

Discontinued in 2002, the Honda Passport is about to make a comeback. A new version of the midsize crossover will break cover at the 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show and will slot between the CR-V and the Pilot. Honda is still keeping details in the vault, but we do have two teaser photos and a video to look at.

A rather short-lived nameplate, the Passport made its debut back in 1993 as a badge-engineered version of the Isuzu Rodeo. Two generations were built until 2002 when the Passport was discontinued after a not-so-successful run. Honda describes the new Passport as a “more personal, powerful, and off-road-capable SUV that hits the sweet spot between daily driving comfort and weekend off-road,” so we should be getting a smaller, more rugged Pilot.

PostHeaderIcon Lamborghini builds racing version of Urus; Plans racing series for 2020

Lamborghini, once a brand completely uninterested in motorsport, is preparing to build a racing version of its Urus Super SUV, dubbed the ST-X. It should lead to a single-make racing series that will feature Rallycross-style courses.

The manufacturer from Sant’Agata Bolognese unveiled the Urus ST-X concept that is a very accurate preview of Lamborghini’s first racing utility vehicle. It was presented to the press at the Vallelunga circuit, near Rome, where Lamborghini hosted its annual World Finals for the Super Trofeo series.

Unlike another SUV-based series that should kick-off next year, the Jaguar I-Pace eTrophy, the Urus ST-X will race on mixed surfaces similar to rallycross events where cars have to run on tarmac as well as on gravel. Lamborghini says the championship will take teams and drivers on a tour of FIA-approved tracks in Europe and beyond.
